The king rooms are updated and cleaner than the old rooms, the only problem I have is the room I booked clearly showed a room with a hot tub but for $70 I should have known better but still don't false advertise, some people will see that an be very upset when they realize there's not a hot tub in here, the lamps, bed and room decor are excellent and the bathroom was also clean which is what everyone expects and wants and the lady up front wasn't even that rude to me this time lol seriously though Howard is in the top 6 or 7 hotels available in Salem I enjoy the views and a majority of the time the rooms I'm placed in!

Great place to stay, very quiet, relaxing, one of the most amazing views of Salem you can find in the city.

I booked the wrong date. January 11th instead of Feb 5th.  Didn't even realize it until my card was charged. I called and the manager, Emanuel said, ”you didn't show up, sorry, out of luck” I even explained that I was going to rebook for the correct date if they would just give me the $98 credit towards the actual date I wanted to stay. I called corporate and 3 reps told me it was up to the manager if they want to refund or not. WHAT A DISGUSTING individual. He could have made a bad experience good and made the situation better, but he chose not too. I get it, I messed up the dates.  Refunding someone doesn't come out of his paycheck. It doesn't affect him directly. However, his attitude of, ”I understand....” was not heartfelt nor ”understanding”.  If I ever open a hotel and someone makes this type of mistake....I will gladly honor a credit towards another night.  Some of us can't afford to lose $98 for no service. My recommendation to this hotel is a big fat 0 !! I rebooked another hotel. He could have still had my business. If you aren't going to be good in customer service, GET OUT OF THE HOTEL industry...what a JERK!
