Top rated hotels in Cedar Rapids

Tru by Hilton Cedar Rapids Westdale
4.3/5104 Reviews
We have stayed at a couple of the Hilton Tru Hotels in the United States and they are precisely the same except for the beautiful murals in the lobby which are tailored to the local Tru. They are dog friendly and the hard flooring and trendy, yet spartan, assures that previous pet misbehavior has been cleaned and sanitized. The night front desk lady was happy and welcoming at 11:00 in the evening as well as the next morning at 7:00 a.m. when she was ending her shift. These hotels are getting to be 3-4 years old and have started to show their share of wall and door dings, but we found things generally clean and well kept. We would agree with the other writers that said this would not be a great place to stay over an extended period of time as the closet space and work spaces are spartan. Interestingly, as we were checking out there were several people leaving that had been there for a couple weeks. The staff told us they have quite a few customers that stay all week and then are gone on the weekends. The view from your room is not especially interesting, but it’s also not right on the interstate like the majority of the Cedar Rapids hotels. We liked the hotel, but would not stay here for anything but a place to sleep and have breakfast. Nice people, no issues, we would come back.
Residence Inn Cedar Rapids South

As a long time Marriott Platinum Elite member and have stayed in Marriott properties all over, and this motel is not up to Marriott standards. We have stayed at this location 3-4 times a year since it was opened. In the beginning it was top notch and a very nice motel. Over the last couple years it has gone downhill. We stayed there last fall and it wasn't a good stay. The first room they gave us, the door looked like it had been broken into and wouldn't lock. They put is in another room. The breakfast was just Jimmy Dean sandwiches, no breakfast buffet. We booked another stay last weekend and thought we would give another chance. We called a couple days before if they accepted Emotional Support dogs and if there was a charge. We were told no. Upon check in we tried to show the paper for the dog and they said ”thats ok, we don't need to see them”. We were later told that Manager need to see them and was going to charge 100. The room was a mess. There were crumbs all over the counters and on the floor. We had to go to the front desk for cooking supplies, the oven/stove took about 30 min to heat up. There was coffee in the room but no coffee maker, we were told they didn't have coffee makers in the room any more. We had grandchildren with us and asked for some microwave popcorn. They said they didn't offer that anymore. Like the stove, it took 15-20 minutes to get hot water in the shower. Water pressure was very low. There was only a 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper and we had to ask for more. Breakfast was a joke. Still no hot breakfast, just a some more of the Jimmy Dean sandwiches and a breakfast burrito. The rest was just cereal and oatmeal. We asked the manager when they were going to bring back the hot breakfast and we were told never, that this was the new Marriott policy. We told her that ALL the other Residence Inn's we had stayed in had the full breakfast and she just walked off. We noticed that all the other motels in the area their parking lots were full. This location only had maybe 20-25 cars on a Saturday night. What we experienced was a pretty good indication of why it wasn't full too. The grounds were a mess and the grass areas were **** covered. There was a fence thats around the retention pond and it was falling down. What was once a beautiful motel looked like a run down property. Management is horrible and running it into the ground. They don't understand that cutting services that make it a Marriott is running off customers. We tried to address all this with the manager but nothing was resolved. We will give out business to the other Marriott properties from now on.
Motel 6 Cedar Rapids, IA - Airport

I have stayed for extended periods of time at this motel when I have had business in Cedar Rapids. I have found the rooms quite clean and comfortable. What I love about the place the most is the people that work there. So accommodating, efficient, helpful, and kind. They go above and beyond. I also would like to give a shout out to Melissa and Nicole, very professional and hard working!

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Cedar Rapids Airport, IA
3.7/5100 Reviews
This hotel is very close to the airport, five minutes away, and there is a free shuttle bus. We went to the airport to return the car and also picked us up for free. The environment is very good, the facilities are complete, there are tools for ironing. Breakfast starts at 4 o'clock, and there are small pastries and drinks to enjoy in the usual hall. The service is very good. Must be recommended!
AmericInn by Wyndham Cedar Rapids North

I've always had a nice experience at any AmericInn I've stayed at. But this one had so many issues that I cannot recommend it. I stayed two nights in November, 2022. I could tell that the room had not been vacuumed prior to my moving in. But at least the bedding was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The heating unit worked perfectly and the little refrigerator was not noisy. I had a room with a handicap accessible shower. The shower bench was tied up to the wall with zip ties. There was a moveable bench that was so wide it took up most of the shower stall space. The shower itself did not have a handheld hose. During one of my two showers, the water suddenly turned ice cold. The little coffeepot in the room had water in the reservoir and had a wet ”pod” in the chamber. There was a big long clunky power strip which took up a lot of space on top of the nightstand between the two beds. There was no hand soap in the bathroom. There were no washcloths. When I went to the front desk about 9:30pm to request washcloths, I dinged the bell several times but nobody ever showed up. When I returned to my room for my second night's sleep, my key cards did not work and had to be reprogrammed. The room still had not been cleaned and the wet towels had not been removed and replaced. The breakfast buffet in the dining room opens at 6:00am. I went to breakfast at 7am and, on the first morning, the orange juice carafe and milk carafe were already empty. There was enough batter for only half a waffle. The only fresh fruit were two apples and a shriveled tangerine. On the second morning, the shriveled tangerine was still there along with a big bunch of bright green inedible bananas. The tall trashcan in the dining area was almost full on the first morning and still had not been emptied by the second morning I was there. To top it off, the wall clock in the dining room was not working. (I know. That's a small matter but just added to my annoyance with the green bananas.)
