My husband and I travel with our two little pooches and therefore rely on pet friendly accommodation, however pet friendly should not equate with substandard accommodation. Good linen — and good bathrooms (with real doors, (not flimsy shower curtains) should be considered normal. We were therefore extremely disappointed with our overnight stay at Ceduna Motel Inn. We didn’t expect to be put in a “top” room, but the tired and rundown room,at this motel, was a total train wreck and disappointment - an ancient air conditioner, held together with electrical tap, a very dirty room, a toilet with no door and more. I wasn’t going to leave a negative review, but when I came upon the note attached to the wall asking guests not to leave a negative review, I was beyond incensed. It was stated in the note, that unless pet owners were prepared to accept “rooms that are old, out of date and in need of an upgrade”, they would have to withdraw from pet friendly accommodation altogether. Why should we accept “the pits” when travelling with our beloved pets and yet pay a “pet premium” for admittedly sub-standard accommodation? It beggars belief!
