We chose this hotel for its character and were not disappointed. A few days before arrival, we met a couple that had also been here and loved it. They warned us the hotel was approached via an alleyway, so don't expect to get a taxi to the door! The hotel carried our luggage on their hand cart from taxi to the door. Our room was large, very comfortable and perfect. Before dinner we had our beers on the upper terrace and enjoyed the evening kite flying, which guests are encouraged to try. For dinner we chose the 'Chef's tasting menu'. After a week of eating Indian food elsewhere that wasn't as good as I cook myself, I wasn't expecting too much. The very first bite of the first item we tasted, we both agreed had us in heaven. (spinach leaf, fried in gram flour batter, with a trio of chutneys) The rest of many courses which included kanji drink, equally 'hit the spot'. Even if you don't stay the night, I would recommend that you come here for the food. Oh how I wish I could reproduce this menu, or any item from it! A pair of dancers appeared on the floor above during the meal. The dancing could be watched from the dining area in the courtyard, or the floors above. The hotel has the highly laudable policy of having a 'tip box' in the lobby for tips to be shared. As the courtyard is open air, the air quality in Delhi could be an issue. Our stay was fine, but the day we left the air was poor in the city.
