Vine Valley Inn
4/548 Reviews
Probably one of the worst hotels we have stayed in and we have stayed in many over the last 50 years . Cannot believe all the hyped reviews!! Where were they staying ?Photographs of bedrooms bear little reflection of ours. For retro read road side furniture that even your granny would refuse and grubby carpets that must be older than us and definitely not quality. Certainly nothing quaint or exceptional especially if you know anything about art or antiques.Insistence on paying cash too for 2 nights.we suspect this wad to get around Booking.com commission as we got a cancellation notice shortly after booking in Cobwebs on dirty windows and ants route marching around the room. As for the bathroom and shower curtain. If you are going to the Valley find a Valley to stay in preferably with a vine and access to the outstanding scenery? There are many other ones to choose from and wish we had. We had booked our room through Booking.com and the ”our epos had gone down” excuse to take cash was a way of avoiding commission to them as we received an email saying our booking had been cancelled, shortly after arrival. Very suspect.
Woodlane Cottages Hunter Valley
4.8/56 Reviews
The cabins are situated on a large peaceful property close to all of the Pokolbin and Lovedale vineyards in the Hunter Valley. It is also 1 minute from the Hunter Valley zoo which is very much worth the visit, especially for kids. Cabins/Villas are immaculately clean and very functional. The grounds are spacious and well maintained and the hosts very friendly, if they are needed. There is also a good sized pool. I would recommend for couples, small groups and young families.
Aussie Rest Motel

It was just an overnight stay for my father and I to attend a family wedding the next day. At 88 my father is unsteady on his feet so he benefited from being in Room 1 which is equipped with rails, no shower hob, etc in the bathroom. The rooms are dated with eclectic furniture, so not to everyone's tastes if you expect something modern. The host is very friendly, the rooms are very clean and everything appears to be well-maintained. One of the nicest motel stays I've had in a while. For dinner we ate next door at the Australia Hotel. Both meals were great.
Wine Country Motor Inn

We recently stayed for two nights at this motel. Check in was quick with friendly service. The Queen room was spacious, clean and comfortable with the usual amenities, including Wifi. The big fluffy white towels were a nice surprise! We found this affordable accommodation an ideal base for various activities in the Hunter Valley, including the Christmas lights. We were able to walk to dinner on both nights, once to the Leagues Club and once to Vincent Street Kitchen & Bar. We would certainly recommend Wine Country Motor Inn.

Hunter Valley Retreat

We had purchased a two night stay through Groupon which was excellent value. Our room was a little tired but clean and tidy. It was very cold whilst we were visiting but the room was not air conditioned but did have an oil heater. I just thought the room could get extremely uncomfortable in summer when the temperature often soars. The grounds are huge, 200 acres in fact. There is a nice walking trail, horse who come and want a pat and wonderful trees. Sleep quality is excellent, very quiet throughout the night. Staff are very friendly and we had a lovely continental breakfast each morning in the restaurant, which was part of the package. The retreat is quite a distance from the main wineries but we chose this accommodation as we used as a base to go 4wdriving through the Watagans National Park. It was perfect for this. Sure beat camping this time of year.
