Monastery Estate Venetian Harbor

Amazing and very close to the centre, monastery hotel is a little more money but it’s well worth paying the extra for the experience. The hot tub experience on the roof top is well worth the extra. The staff are very friendly and want to do all they can to make your stay the best you have had. Even the in house cleaners were very accommodating and would get you extra coffee pods when asked for, very quick and thoughtful. Our whole satay at this place was exceptional would recommend it to any one of our friends.

Two adults and a 6 year old, 3 night stay in a penthouse room. Nicely decorated, stylish room. All staff are lovely and helpful. Breakfast is perfect - love the freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice the most. Had the private indoor pool on day do which was very refreshing. Close to harbour and easy to find using google maps. Didn’t have chance to go to restaurant for dinner but looked beautiful. Loved the roof terrace. Two comfortable sun loungers, 2 big chairs and a parasol. Able to dip into the jacuzzi bath and have hot or cold. Overall, great experience and would have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotal and the team simply deserve a 10-star rating. The location is spot on with proximity to any place you want to go to especially at a walking distance to the famous harbour. The team was very professional and warmly hospitable, they would above and beyond to ensure everyone's satisfaction. Besides, they nailed every recommendation we went by. Spot on and highly recommended.

We loved this hotel. The staff were so helpful at all times. We had a Penthouse suite and it was perfect for us. Meandered the streets during the mornings, headed back for some afternoon rooftop relaxation then headed out for early dinners to get back in time for the sunset over the town. Breakfast was fantastic, we did not eat dinner. The location is perfect, a short walk to everything you need.

This hotel was PERFECT. The aesthetic of the old monetary with modern decor was absolutely stunning. The rooms are clean and spacious (we had a room with a private rooftop and hot tub). The service was excellent, and the included breakfast was a great way to start our day in the courtyard. It was also conveniently located two minutes from the harbor, and in the center of restaurants and bars (this street was very quiet though). I would stay here again NO DOUBT. Just a note for some travelers, the taxi cannot pull up right in front of the hotel, since most streets in the old town are closed to traffic. However, it is just a one minute walk to a main road where you can access a taxi.

We stayed at Monastery Estates for 3 nights in June, 2024. The hotel and room were absolutely stunning. But what really made the stay special was the staff. All of the front desk staff were pleasant, cordial, professional, and very accommodating. But the standout person was Sophia in the restaurant. Simply put, her smile and warm demeanor made this stay a joy. Thank you!

This hotel has decent reviews, nice pictures. It all begins with disclaimers while you book. This hotel is in the middle of old town Chania, and has no parking. We double parked on the street to unload all the luggage. The hotel recommended parking at the East Ditch parking lot , which is free, but is a 10 minute walk. It is made further confusing because the Apple and google maps take you to the wrong address. This is because the street it is on bisects a pedestrian street named “Potie”. We had to ask a shop keeper how to find it after attempting to call the hotel 3 times and they failed to answer. For me, it’s just okay. We booked a “penthouse” room with private jacuzzi. For me that meant the top room, come to find out there are 4 in total. Additionally, the jacuzzi is nothing more than a jetted bathtub in the roof deck (which all the penthouses can view). The room is nice, but its quirks are weird. The platform bed (left side) makes it impossible to get out of bed without climbing down the bottom of the bed, as the platform is connected to the wall. Not favorable for going to the bathroom mid sleep. The shower/toilet area are set behind a large frosted glass door equipped with a privacy curtain(but operated from the outside). The curtain bulks up in the shower side (right) and makes the shower dark. And with no light installed above, the shower itself is dark. The technology, needs serious help. The AC controls require actual interference from staff to get to work properly, and even then have to be reset every time you leave the room. Needless to say, in Chania, which in the summer is 100 degrees means you will want the room cooled down when you return from walking around town. This room was $284 a night for us, and we truly thought we were getting a private hot tub room with a nice view. The view was fine, and at night when the city comes to light under sunset it’s nice to be in the center. Upon checkout they held our luggage graciously while we shopped. When we got back (in under 90 Minutes) I had left a redbull in the fridge, and they refused to retrieve saying the room belonged to another guest. Well check in is at 3pm. The request was made at 11:30. That seems off and in bad customer service. Breakfast staff were a total delight. Bright, cheerful, accommodating, just what you want at that hour. I hope this review helps, as that is the perspective it was written from.
