Domes Zeen Chania, a Luxury Collection Resort, Crete

A magnificent hotel situated in beautiful grounds the gardens are spectacular as is the architecture. Rooms are perfect,large and luxurious some with their own pools. Which was very welcome as the main pool was filled with noisy kids. Staff are amazingly helpful and warm and welcoming. Only negative for us is that this hotel is better suited for families than it is for couples. Pool is noisy and filled with screaming kids. Decking around the pool should be improved as the stones are uncomfortable and hard on the feet.

A boutique hotel that I am sure a lot of people will absolutely love. We enjoyed our stay without being wowed. That is not to say that this is not a really very nice hotel, with some fantastic staff who are trying their upmost to make it fabulous. I would describe it as a brilliant 4 star hotel but not in the same class across the world as some 5 star hotels we have stayed in. However, I have no doubt it deserves a lot of accolades. Pros Spacious room / comfy bed / all amenities you would expect in the room. Great to have a good sound system and Nespresso in the room. Private pool was fabulous. I suspect depending on location you get lucky or not based on where the sun is during the day. We were very close to the breakfast area which was a godsend for avoiding the steep climb back up the hill. We were in 6007 which I would recommend as a good and relatively private room and shared pool based on what we saw of others. Closeness to Chania is fabulous. It is less than 10mins in a taxi and 10euros one way. There is also a complimentary bus (make sure you book). We also walked into town a few times (c30. Minutes). Would suggest eating and drinking in Chania / so many options and some really quaint spots. This hotel was perfect just by virtue of the closeness to the heart of Chania. Cons The hotel really need to sort out the entrance to the hotel. You are literally coming down a dirt track with no lighting in the evening and parking is pretty much in a pile of rubble. It really does not set a good first impression at all. The path into the town along the beach is not lit at night so you can really only do it in the daytime. Otherwise it is pitch black and rocky. Again, given this is a Marriott, I am not sure why they have not tried to help with a few lights until you get to the main road. If you struggle with steps this is not the hotel for you. In blistering heat it is a bit of a trek to get up to reception from the beach. Whilst arguably there are buggies not everyone wants to rely on them to move around a complex. Please also make your signage bigger - it is almost guess work to figure out where the stairs are at times. Staff are really really lovely - but over the top. I really don't want to criticise the enthusiasm, but at times you just want to be left alone to eat your breakfast. Having someone pester you to do a survey on your stay and ask us to rate our experience (and be disappointed when we say 8 out of 10) is a little off-putting. This sounds really picky (and it is), but for some people you really don't want someone interjecting every 5 minutes during you having breakfast - discretion is a skill. Note that we had an issue on the first day which the staff were absolutely amazing at resolving, so it is really hard to criticise such passion which they all showed for making everyone's stay amazing. Good hotel, rooms lovely, food very good. The beach is stoney but super tranquil, the pool area was more family oriented so less relaxing. Bar area is quite small for a hotel of this size but not an issue as restaurant area is large. Chania is a 30-40min walk away (or an 10 euro taxi) and there’s lots of really good restaurants and bars there.

What an amazing hotel with outstanding service, 25 mins walk to the harbour or 10 euro taxi. Fabulous food, complimentary drinks and snack in the lobby and buggies to transport you should you require. Gorgeous room, excellent housekeeping and lovely toiletries, we will return.

A lovely property in Chania. The staff goes above and beyond to be of assistance to you and your needs. The rooms are very spacious and immaculate. Housekeeping is outstanding! The pool is nice, and it is rocky near the beach (this is Crete). The restaurants are very good and the selection is vast especially for breakfast. I would highly recommend this property and Chania to anyone looking for a relaxing Holiday.
