Waterbird Lakeside Inn

Excellent site actually hands over a lake that is brimming with wildlife like birds, fish and turtles. It is located near beaches national and state parks that are in a unique area of the great lakes that migratory birds go through. Hotel was designed well but no maintenance or anything other than basic services are supported. Nothing to justify high price for rooms.

I loved the location and the balcony with the view was amazing! Did not care for the AC unit being wired to only set at a certain temperature because it did not get cool in the summer heat at all that way. I understand wanting to save some money for the property but it was uncomfortable during the day. At night leaving the screen door open to the balcony made it much cooler which was great!! The staff were super friendly and kind! We were unable to check in early, which is totally okay, and they were apologetic but still quick to get us in by the 3pm standard check in time with no issues! Highly recommend staying here if ever in the area!

We’ve stayed here many times. The only concern is the sometimes spotty wi-fi. Always comfortable and the wildlife is entertaining, especially the turtles and swallows. Will return.

The property was older but nice. It was older and parts of it were not very clean. However it is conveniently located to lots of dining etc

Nice front lobby and view, but other than that they close the lobby for certain hours and I slept the whole night without realizing my sheets had stains on tjem

The only pro about this hotel was the balcony over the lake and no bed bugs... They had no one at the "front desk", it was a note saying use the black phone behind you for assistance. I was ok with the no breakfast, because there are many restaurants nearby. I was not ok with not having anywhere to put my clothes, no dresser of any kind, the balcony didn't lock, the door barely did, the room had a weird smell, the bathroom sink was basically thigh high, the bed was very uncomfortable, and it was so hot in the room at night, (cause the air conditioner was blowing warm air) we couldn't sleep. What was supposed to be a two night stay turned into one. BUT I had the privilege of paying for two. I tried to contact someone in the morning to fix the air conditioner, you know with the phone on the wall, but to no avail as no one answered the phone I was calling! We went about our day then decided it was to hot in the room, and it wasn't worth "sleeping" on an uncomfortable bed another night. So we TRIED checking out. AGAIN used the phone on the wall and someone finally showed up and than wanted to argue that he couldn't check me out and I couldn't get a receipt because it was after 1. Finally DID check out, got a receipt for one night, and had him write the total for two nights. I did understand that I was paying for both nights and said as much to him. It WAS our choice to leave. I did have him initial the receipt for my records. Basically 190 a night for such a stay NOT worth the money.
