We attended the hotel for my half marathon event. The room was nice but amenities were low, no coffee/tea, no hair conditioner, low on shower soap. We called ahead to ask about parking and told to use the valet, they did not advise street parking was free (we found out from a friend). The evening before we made a reservation for dinner at the restaurant desk but were never called. When we returned an hour later, we were seated immediately without a name or phone number. At 7am my husband and son ordered room service for breakfast with the front desk while I was starting the race. They were confirmed and charged. They waiting an hour and half before calling down to be told there was no breakfast and the kitchen was closed, refund on its way. They said fine, then we will check out and asked for the valet. Another half an hour goes by as they try to find the car. By the time they get the car the race is ended and they, after running themselves, miss the finish and arrive hungry, tired, and annoyed. We will not be attending again unfortunately.

I was especially glad to have dinner on my first night in the Study restaurant and bar. The Bangers and Mash were splendid! (I hadn't had them for decades) and so was the Guinness on tap! By the way, the room was great too. It doesn't hurt for one person to have plenty of room.

On Saturday, July 20th we checked into The Study. I booked this room months in advance and about a week prior to our arrival, I received an email from the hotel asking what time to expect us. I replied that we would be there at approximately noon, and they let me know that they would look forward to seeing us then. When we arrived a couple minutes after noon, I was informed by the front desk that our room was not yet ready. I asked for an ETA and the employee explained that she could not provide one because she had just gotten there. While frustrating, this did not seem like a big deal since check in at hotels is frequently after 1 PM- however, I was confused as to why they sent me an email asking when to expect us. We waited in the lobby for nearly 2 hours until we were informed that our room was ready for us. Upon entering the room, it was clear that it had been hastily cleaned. Many surfaces were dirty, grimy, or smudgy- which raised concerns about how sanitary it was. We went out for the day and arrived back at the hotel at approximately 1 AM for bed. When I went to roll down the shades, I noticed that there were two rollers, but one of them was bare (missing a curtain). To my unfortunate surprise, I was awakened at about 6 AM when the sun rose. It was the blackout curtain that was missing (see photos). Let me conclude this review by saying that had this been a $150 hotel room, I would have been disappointed but not felt the need to voice it. However, I paid over $240 in total for a single night in what can only be described as sub-par, less than mediocre suite. I would not recommend this hotel.

I was in and out, picking up my son from a University of Chicago summer program. The location could not have been more convenient. The hotel is stunning and the rooms were high quality. The front desk staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating, holding all his bags while we took the time to explore the area before our airport pick-up. Only critique is that a mini fridge would have been nice to keep my ice coffee for the am cold.

Very well appointed rooms and excellent service. Our bed was super clean and very comfortable. We booked a block of rooms for family and friends to stay during my daughter's wedding weekend. The staff was extremely helpful in making that happen. Booking the Presidential Suite for wedding prep for the bridal party and then the first night for the newlyweds was a great idea. It was perfect. We truly appreciated the Dear Charles opening up especially for us for our private afterparty. We would definitely recommend booking this hotel if you're visiting Johns Hopkins University or, really, anywhere in Baltimore!

LOVED this hotel! Exactly what we needed for a baseball tournament at Hopkins...the right mix of luxury and convenience (one block from the field). The restaurant was amazing as well...quick and friendly service with delicious food. I would definitely recommend this venue and will be sure to stay at other The Study properties in the future!

Super quaint, full of character, not generic, but amazingly convenient and beautiful this is a great choice Rooms are comfortable, convenient and new clean efficient and was sufficient University character. If you’re in the university or in the area, this is the place.

I stayed at the Study for 4 nights and my parents were there for 7 nights during the graduation of my son from University of Chicago. As expected, the room nights were exceptionally pricey ($700 per room per night) but it felt that the team had not ramped up their manpower to match the high demand that week. The rooms were reasonably basic, the showers are quite dead. Trying to get breakfast was an ordeal and it would take 90 mins to get some seating and some service. We ordered a meal from Uber Eats for my parents which was delivered downstairs and yet for over an hour, nobody from reception even called the room to say that the meal is delivered. I can understand that an establishment will make profits during a weekend like a Commencement weekend; would be good to let go some of that to also augment the staff to meet the high demand. Overall very unsatisfactory stay and felt very poor value.

State at this Study location for a brief visit to UChicago. Rooms are clean, no frills decor, but all in working order. Good desk, large windows, quiet at night. You can request fridge and microwave in room. Gym is well equipped, basic. Truth Be Told pub downstairs is handy throughout the day and Bar David restaurant for great on-campus dining is just next door. Typically I stay at The Sophy which is a lot more upscale vs this option.
