Purchases Restaurant & Accommodation

Staff are all very nice and professional. Bar was lovely and the breakfast was perfect Room very small - bedding amazing - bathroom v good and shampoo etc supplied. Lovely white towels Unfortunately we had a woman outside in the high street at 2am screaming and shouting. Not a good nights sleep Parking is close by but very expensive to park overnight. Prob wouldn’t return but the dinner looked nice and wished we had eaten there as Côte wasn’t very good for dinner

I booked this hotel based on ratings/reviews I had read. I was certainly not disappointed. The room was lovely, exceptionally clean with a very comfortable bed. But I think what really stands out is the service. All the staff were extremely friendly, professional and very capable. We had pre dinner cocktails followed by a really fabulous meal. A very tasty beef Wellington! Breakfast was continental which suited us. My only complaint, and this has nothing to do with Purchases, is there was no on site parking as stated by ***********. If we had known this we would have dropped off our bags and parked the car after. I would highly recommend the hotel and if you don’t stay but fancy a good meal you can’t go wrong dining here.

Valentines dinner set price menu £75 a head, no welcome drinks no rose for the lady no hart shaped chocolate, no music, nothing to say it’s Valentine’s Day, paid in full a month ago and when settling bill they add 12.5 % service charge, so someone has decided I had a great evening and I wish to increase my bill, this has to stop. The food was lovely the service not great. Shame, used to be my place to go for special occasions.

Had the 3 course theatre menu. smoked salmon and prawns starter was good, as was the pork main course Moderate portions but very good Very busy Staff efficient and professional Would definitely go there again

One night stay. 10 minute walk from station. Pleasant high street location. Good value premium stay in character house. Staff were super helpful. Restaurant with rooms, don’t walk in expecting full service hotel, but it’s great.

Viewed the restaurant before and the atmosphere looked good so booked. Service was good as I would expect but the ambience in the overflow restaurant outside was lacking. Biggest disappointment was the food as it lacked flavour. Food was very mediocre and for the high end prices we expected much more. Sadly very underwhelmed

We travel to Chichester a couple of times most years and always dine at Purchasers. This time, the food and service were absolutely excellent, as usual. My wife had a lamb dish whilst I had steak, both of which were high quality cuts of meat cooked, seasoned and presented beautifully. The staff were excellent; attentive, focussed and professional. For the first time, we stayed in one of their rooms, which was sytlishly decorated and furnished, with a clasy and comfortable feel. We shall return.

I have been to purchases a few times and food has been amazing each time, this time was no different. Service looked busy however it took 45 mins for starters to arrive and another 45 on top for mains, being in the industry myself this is poor on the kitchens part to have checks on for that long and the lack of communication given to us by FOH for any delay is always a frustration when hungry. Desserts were sent out while the fondant had been left behind, most likely one hadn’t gone to plan and had to be fired again given the extra 10/15 mins it took after the other desserts came out. This would’ve have been settled if what occurred had been communicated to us. This shall not deter me from coming again, however I was disappointed with how disjointed the service was and we expected better from a restaurant we hold in high expectation.

I have eaten at Purchases. Chichester many times in the past and have been generally satisfied. However my recent visit for Sunday lunch was very disappointing. The food was overdone and the vegetables were hard. The mains plates were cleared by a waitress who had an attitude. Customer service was not high on her agenda, although the other staff were their usual professional selves. I emailed the Manager but received no reply. When chased he denied recieving.my complaint. Clearly only positive reviews are acknowledged.
