We live not too far from Christchurch and have previously visited the boathouse on many regular occasions, however, our most recent visit was met with horrendously slow service, dirty cups and cutlery, no offer of coffee/tea refills, average quality food, and young girls wearing not a lot who were serving us, it's not a night club... We will not be visiting again!

We visited The Boat House for a light light before going for a walk. Lovely location right on the river. Food was very good (we had meze and calamari and truffle chips. My real reason for this review was to say what a really great waitress we had in Amelia. She was quickly there whenever we wanted her, always with a smile and showed an interest in us and what we were doing. She was a real credit to the place. Thank you Amelia.

Insecure owners barging in on their customers. Installed cameras in the suite, awful behaviour. Owners are extremely insecure and are transphobic. Absolutely childish disgraceful behaviour. Should be ashamed of yourselves.
