Slightly odd checkin procedure, where we got a key somehow without really registering but our room was prepaid so we didn’t think much of it. The room wasn’t ready after all, so the receptionist spent some minutes shouting at the cleaner and left us to wait in the bar. When we got to the room it was unexpectedly large and roomy with a balcony and separate window so we could air it a bit (no air condition). Decoration a bit dated etc, no fridge but clean and fairly quiet and dark at night despite being next to the road. The bathroom had soap dispensers full of very watered down detergent but the water pressure in the shower was good and reliable, as was the Wi-Fi. We slept well! We had dinner in the restaurant and that was fine, and agreed to put it on the bill and pay in the morning. As we enjoyed our dinner, a huge party of new guests arrived and were accommodated in the restaurant but in a difficult part and the hotel manager, who was also waiting on tables, somehow managed to handle all of this at once and no problems with service to our table as you might expect. In the morning, the same thing; lots of breakfast guests but they were prepared by having an extra table of breakfast in a difficult room (albeit without the cold stuff like yogurt) and placing thermoses of coffee on the tables for arriving guests. So we didn’t get a welcome or anything but helped ourselves. Breakfast was a bit limited and the coffee was the worst we had on this trip, but still plenty of choice. Checking out was rather difficult as the person on reception couldn’t find any record of us checking in, and had problems with the computer system, but it was eventually sorted out, we paid our bill and off we went. There is not a lot of choice if you want to stay in Emmetten so this could be your best bet.

Wanting a calm retreat ? Don’t stay here. Although the restaurant is really good, the soundproofing is not existing in the rooms. We had a room 3 floors above the restaurant and we were disturbed by the chairs of the restaurant sliding between 7 to 10 am and 6 to 10 pm. And that was in the room with a view on the lake. Also, the hotel is non-smoking, but they put ashtrays on the balcony. Unfortunately our room neighbors spent the evenings/nights smoking like chimneys, and that disgusting cigarette smoke was coming into our room through the balcony window. And on the other side of the hotel the road has some heavy trafic. Oh, the delivery truck at 5 am is noisy too. And the cleaning ladies were talking very loud (one shouted a big “Scheisse” which surprised/shocked me and another couple in the hallway). It’s a shame, because the rest of the staff is really really nice, but it’s not a hotel to rest.

One owner manages the entire hotel and the restaurant on the first floor, lol. Very interesting boss, the hotel room is not bad, mainly the view and balcony are very surprising, the room equipment is also not bad, the hotel breakfast is pretty good, it's too cost-effective. A few minutes walk from the hotel, there is a pizza shop that tastes great!

I tried to get to 4 out of 5, but need to be honest. The hotel isnt responsible for the view and the view makes up for a lot of negatives in the hotel. Check in was friendly and quick and we had the key to our room on the 4th floor no more than 5 minutes after we arrived. Parking was a bit of a search because we arrived on a sunday during lunchtime and apparently this is a popular time to have lunch at that hotel. The room we got is on the 4th floor and is a standard room with lakeview. The room is very tiny! Washbasin is in the room and the shower and toilet are separate but really tiny space too! If you are with 2 and you have your luggage then the room is completely filled up and no space to store anything. There is a ventilator, but no airconditioning. But thats OK. we could open the window and the fresh breeze over the lake came into the room. But also the mosquitos! So maybe they can place some mosquito net in front of the window? There is a watercooker in the room, but with a very short powercord, so the only place where we could use it was on the washbasin, but that was not very stable. The bed was not comfy, hard and the pillows are non existent. The wifi was good and fast! Then breakfast. It was a ”buffet”, but it was very limited. Some bread you need to cut yourself, thats OK, but with Covid? And the rest was just some cheeses and meats, some sweet things and thats it. Coffee was from a machine and juice from a tap. It was ok, but not really memorable. We didnt have dinner here because we read some reviews and watched what other guests ordered and compared prices and we decided not to do it. Check out was not really check out, it was just paying the bill and thats it. The desk agent didnt ask how our stay was or wasn't interested at all. So all in all too much things I dont like about a hotel at this price level. The views and location is priceless thats true. But it was like that the hotel is managed without passion. Thats a bit sad.

The scenery is invincible, the key price is also close to the people, the air is not good for tourists, and it is very comfortable. Overall I can only give this hotel a 2/5. Location: Beautiful but kind of remote. You are right on the lake, so great sunsets, beautiful scenery and its very peaceful. Remote - More than an hour from Lucerne driving, ferry is also about 1hr. Interlaken is about 2.5 to 3hrs drive due to traffic and small roads. Ferry without a pass is about 60 CHF round trip to Lucerne, so quite pricey. Staff: Overall: Very helpful and friendly, no problems. Food: We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was very good, with a good selection. Dinner we felt it was overpriced for what it was, you would average around $75 - $100 pp without alcohol. There are also very limited options in the village unless you want to drive. There is a grocery store across the street that you can pick up snacks and other things which is useful. Parking: Decent parking at the hotel at 10 CHF per night. Room: This is where the main issue was. The room overall is quite small, though very clean and well appointed. We had an upgraded room with a patio overlooking the lake. The doors to the patio couldn't be opened fully as the bed was in the way. There is no A/C in the room due to the hotel being a historic building. We stayed at the hotel in early September 2023, it was around 85F / 29C in the daytime with a humidity of around 75%. The lakeview rooms get full sun from around 1pm till 7.30pm in early September, which means they are literally unbearable from about 3pm. The hotel does provide a fan, but it's not really useful when inside the room the temperature was reading 91F/ 33C. This is a big problem as the hotel isn't a low end establishment and we expected better. In addition, as the evening comes in, there was a high amount of mosquitos (due to the lake) which if you leave the doors open, you will be eaten alive, this adds to the problem with an already hot room. If there was some kind of bug screen this would have really helped as there is no other way to cool the room down. Overall, we were happy to leave, even though the views and location are spectacular and staff very accommodating. The problems with the room are too much based on this price point.

This is a super hotel. The suite I booked is divided into two rooms, two bathrooms, and the two balconies are connected. I can sit outside and have a cup of coffee and take a nap. It is very comfortable. The hotel room has a separate washroom. The desk is very good. The hotel has a white style, the space is acceptable, and the overall feeling is very clean. Particularly commendable is the breakfast at this hotel, which has a wide variety and is of very good quality. The hotel has independent check-in, which is very convenient and the check-in is very fast. The hotel has a parking garage, which is very close and convenient. Parking is charged separately.

We had 10 nights driving round Europe. We were lucky with all the hotels we stayed in but this one was the icing on the cake. An absolute delight. Set on Lake Lucerne with views to die for. Our room was comfortable and traditional with a balcony with that view - wow. Breakfast was a good selection and enjoyable. The passenger ferry to Lucerne departs from just in front of the hotel and Mount Rigi venicular to the side of the hotel. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.
