I don't know if it's the city's administrative policy when checking in, but the front desk contacts public security. Two police officers came and interrogated you for nearly an hour. If you wanted to go out, they made you wait at the front desk and called the police. I went through the terrible experience of being followed and monitored by two police officers all day.
