Recently stayed in this beautiful town on our Camino adventure. The hotel is somewhat olde world and while some reviews I had read were quite critical of the state of the rooms and indeed the service, that was not our experience. Hotel is located one block back from a magnificent beach which has a 4K promenade. Check in was seamless and receptionist was very friendly. Our room was a decent one, clean/ quiet albeit we could have done with aircon as weather was quite warm. While breakfast was served on site (typical continental breakfast), there was no facility to eat at night ( staff however provided decent recommendations). The town has multiple bars/ restaurants within 5/7 minutes walk of the hotel.
Stayed 2 nts as nowhere else to stay here. Lady on reception was very helpful on arrival. Very thin walls, can hear people talking and tv. Basic but clean rooms in need of updating, but that goes for the hotel generally. Having travelled around Spain for a few wks this is quite in need f tlc. Evening meal we chose steak.......bad decision. More waste than what was edible. The lovely waitress was more than happy to fill our flask with hot water. On checkout we disputed our bill as when we checked in were quoted a price, however on checkout it was quite abit more than we expected. We paid the higher bill but noticed the reason was that we had been quoted a price per nt WITHOUT tax........which we felt was very poor and sneaky! Would recommend missing Laredo and this hotel.

We booked this place for our last night in Spain prior to a return to the UK. The location of the hotel is lovely - quite remote with woodland around. Sadly the positive experience ends there. Where to start.... The grounds themselves look sad and neglected - with some good maintenance it could be exceptional. the whole place looks tired and in need of better management. Weeds are everywhere and there is not enough serving staff. The pool is uninviting and again needs work. We stayed at several Paradors on our trip and this one was by far the worst for service and quality. The hotel is an old palace with new extensions on each wing. These are poorly insulated for noise and you can hear people snoring next door and clumping around. The restaurant is shambolic. We booked an evening meal and it took over 45 minuted for food to arrive. What did arrive was bland and uninspiring delivered by a chubby bearded waiter who needs training in customer service. No smile, he really didn't seem to enjoy his job. No apology for the delay either. Breakfast was a duplicate - coffee was served in a jug and we were told to help ourselves to a teabag and hot water - no other Parador was this bad. The hot food when delivered was again poor lacking in seasoning and quality. My wife's tortilla with potato had no potato !!! Overall not one to go to. Many will because of the nearness to the ferry port. If we were doing the trip again we would avoid this place and book elsewhere.
