We made a reservation for this hotel somewhere in April but due to corona we where not allowed to visit Köln. So we rebooked this hotel for August (instead of 3 nights now 2 nights, but we allready paid it for three nights). The communication via email is great!! Quick response. A couple of days in front of our arrival we received an email about the breakfast (which was included). The did not serve a regular breakfast due to corona but instead of this coffee and tea and a croisoint was provided for free in the bar. About our room we had a upgrade and the room was big. And we had a balcony 😍😍. But to be honoust for a 4 star hotel we missed some things. Booking promised us slippers, bathrope etc. But it wasn’t there. No bath only. Shower. No fridge.... What i said. Breakfast was a coffee and croisant served at the bar but we had to wait a while for this 😞. Also due to corona the rooms will not be cleaned. If you wants new coffee capsules, towels, etc, you have to ask at the reception. We asked for new coffee capsules en hot the answer that it was only offered as welcoming.......after saying it was mentioned in the elevator we got some new ones. By the wat the location of the hotel is great. And as last. The lady of the reception asked us to pay an amount of money for the change of rate for the room. Although it was some euro’s we allready payed enough. Normally this weekend we should have payed about 150 euro......we payed 285 euro’s. So why should we pay the difference rate of the room. I give this hotel 3 out of five but it should have been 2,5. I don’t think i will visit this hotel again....

The check-in could be more swift and in a slightly more polite tone. The smallest room has plenty of space for one night, the bathroom could be more functional with more storage options, the shower is amazing. The unpleasant surprise came the next morning when breakfast was ”delivered”, which is to be taken literally as it handed out in a cartonage box. Inside were two sandwiches (ham and salami), one hard-boiled egg and fruits. If that's not to your taste - tough luck! Do not get me wrong: I can live with terrible breakfast, I am okay to (over)pay for good/halfway acceptable breakfast, but for 14€ I expect a level of choice that goes beyond vegan, vegetarian or normal. If you hope for that to have changed in the future, I also have to disappoint you: The receptionist was well-aware of the fact that this offer is a rip-off.

The (non-upgraded) room is relatively spacious, well designed and quiet. I'm glad I did not accept a higher cost upgrade option. It was great for a 4-day stay. There's a separate area for clothing and storage, and a small refrigerator. There was a wall of windows, good light and effective blackout curtains. The in-room coffee service is nice - I didn't find this in my other hotels. The breakfast buffet is worth the price, especially considering the quality, and that a single cup of coffee elsewhere can easily be 5 Euros. It's not a train station hotel (one mile away from the HBF and the Dom), but this hotel is in a very nice area, and is convenient to a great many dining and entertainment options for a Cologne tourist. It's not horrible to take the train here (with one connection) if you are reasonably mobile. Public transit options are many once you figure them out. The USB charging outlets are helpful -- and I did not find these in any other of my hotels. Overall, this chain is a significant step up from the likes of Ibis and Motel One. This hotel is very much worth the reasonable premium it charges. Desk staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I would happily return to this property.

The Courtyard Marriott of Cologne was clean, beautiful and a great location. It was a short walk to the Central train Station and near all the sights of Cologne. I was only there for one night and did not get to experience the breakfast as we checked out before it was served, but they did provide me with a lunch box which included a ham and cheese sandwich, a banana and a water. There is coffee and boxed water 24 hours a day in the lobby. The beds were super comfortable and the temperature of the room was ideal, as we had control over the air conditioner, whereas other hotels we stayed in the same week, did not allow us control and we were very warm. The room we had was a nice size and the view was of the empty courtyard which was extrememly quiet and definitely highly desirable. Front staff upon checking in, was not friendly, however after check in everyone else we came in contact with was very friendly. I didn't get the ladies name at the front desk, but she definitely didn't give us a positive welcome. Glad her shift ended and everyone else we dealt with, and passed was extremely friendly and that is what the experience should be like.

The hotel is nicely decorated and quite quirky, the best thing was the glass wall in the bathroom which you can make opaque at the flick of a switch. The air conditioning control was broken and the room was freezing. On chat with one if the staff who couldn’t do anything about it, my bedside light was also not working. There was a lot of wear and tear in the room, worn floors, lots of limescale on the shower heads, the overhead one was unusable it was so blocked up. We were offered bunk beds in a dorm as a room change which was totally unacceptable. Had we have been in Cologne for more than one night we would have definitely checked out. Going paperless and peopleless is ok on paper but if something is broken you need to be able to provide someone to give maintenance when there is a problem, you can’t just offer bunk beds and fob someone off with a bit of a refund. The refund we received was about £7.50

A short walk to several tram centers including Severinstrasse, Ubierring and Köln Heumarkt stations link travelers to the greater Cologne area. Guests can seek additional refreshment in the ample spa facility, which includes a sauna, steam bath and relaxation room. There was no air conditioning (AC) even though the hotel advertised as having it. Their excuses was that it was too cool at night to operate the AC for the hotel even though it was actually very warm outside. Translation: the entire hotel is either on heat or AC, they are too frugal to allow use of the advertised AC, or their system is outdated and does not actually work properly. Very hot and stuff room. The odd thing was is that the hotel lobby seemed to have AC. The hallways and room were uncomfortably hot. Upon checking in there was only a little bit of toilet paper was left on the roll. Fortunately there was an extra roll provided. Only a few sheets of Kleenex were in the box. Also, the hand soap dispenser was nearly empty. It seems not much care is given to the rooms between guests. On our last day the housekeeper knocks on the door early in the morning even tough the “do not disturb” sign was hung on the door. It was a basic room with furnishings that included a desk, a small round table, 2 small nightstands, a desk chair, and one sitting chair. There was no usable refrigerator, just a mini bar. The was only one suitcase rack situated in the closet. We had to use the sitting chair for our other suitcase. The beds were not too comfortable. Also the pillow case did not completely cover the pillow, so your head might rest upon the exposed portion of the pillow where the lasts hundreds of guest placed their heads. Bathroom was OK but a bit smelly. The shower had low water pressure. Some water will leak out under the shower door to the floor. Stepping over the high tub with a slippery shower floor is a bit precarious. Internet speed was 3.81 Mbps in both upload and download, with 8 ms latency. The location is near the chocolate museum and a good pizza and pasta restaurant is nearby. The cathedral is less than a mile away. At almost 400 euros a night, it was very expensive for a poor experience. Perhaps HN stands for “Not Happy.”

Booked this hotel for our family of four (2 adults 2 teens) for a 3 night city break in cologne.First impressions after an €8 taxi journey from the train station was , very clean , modern and friendly desk staff. The location is great , short walk to the chocolate museum and even the city centre if you are relatively fit.All down the promenade at the side of the Rhine.Rooms bright and modern with excellent TV and air con.Rewe supermarket a short walk If you want essentials or cheap continental grab and go breakfast. Only slight negative was the blonde lady working the bar seemed to get slightly frustrated when I was going to the bar to keep ordering drinks for our party (yes I drink a lot 😀) but that is her job.She wasn’t too bad the day after though and the rest of the staff were great.I wouldn’t hesitate booking this hotel again.Thank you Novotel for helping make a great trip.

We had 5 rooms during Orgatec Exhibition. Hotel was new, employees were kind, breakfast was good and in general it was a clean hotel. It is not in city center but really easy to reach Rudofplatz or Heumarkt with 2 Tram Lines and it takes only 5 stops. Also there were some restaurant and supermarkets around for our needs. Therefore we enjoyed our stay in hotel. Only thing which was negative, you need to inform reception each morning for cleaning rooms. Otherwise it was not cleaned. (we are not informed about this during check-in so we learned that after first day) Despite we informed that for each day, second day of our stay 2/5 rooms are not cleaned. Except this, it was all well clean
Enjoy your stay at our B&B HOTEL Köln-Marsdorf and discover the diversity of this impressive city. A visit to the world-famous Cologne Cathedral is an absolute must. 400e for 2 nights for 2 rooms is a crazy amount of money for an ibis Budget. Just paid 100e less for a Lovely house in Bruges! However, hotel prices in Koln were incredibly high family of 5 we had little choice . Did the job but certainly not worth that amount of money. It was clean, comfy beds and powerful showers as a positive. Let's be honest thank goodness it was at that price. Good location outside of the LEZ zone and a quick hop onto the tram 8 mins walk away.

Outstanding
FfirstbignoseThe best hotel in Germany. The western restaurant on the second floor is especially amazing. You need to make reservations in advance at night. The details of the service are great. The hotel is the official designated accommodation hotel for the European Cup. I was lucky enough to see the England and Belgium players.
GGuest UserWe had to check in very late (about 02:30), but that was not a problem at all. The service was very friendly and helpful. We had booked a room for 3 people over Booking.com that was unfortunately no longer available on site. We were fully unproblematic and without additional costs ”distributed” to two Comfort double rooms and received another drink from the house bar for free as an excuse. The rooms themselves are very well equipped and comfortable. The included breakfast was the “hammer” and very rich and varied. Of us absolutely recommended. A parking house is right next to and has not cost us anything.
GGuest UserWe stayed in the hotel as a family with 7 years old child without any problem. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel so we have no idea about restaurant. Employees are kind and doing their best. Very good location. You can walk all the touristic places. We went to Cologne on December and it was cold. Whenever we felt cold, we turned to hotel for rest in 5-10 minutes. The best christmas market (Heumarkt) is near the hotel and you can use public transport in front of the hotel (if you need). Walk distance to the Dom Cathedral, Love Bridge, Chocolate Museum, Shildergrasse and all the christmas markets.
GGuest UserJust an absolute great experience staying there easy to find from central station. The staff are very welcome in. Everything we requested before we arrived. Was there just the overall great day and a great great location. Definitely want to stay there again. Would recommend this to anybody.
GGuest UserThe location was perfect, right next to the train station. I recommend going there for breakfast to save about 10 euros a day. The rooms were very old fashioned, the walls had dark marks on them and the carpet was one which you would not want to walk barefoot on. I felt a bit concerned for my privacy when using the shower as there is a massive window in the bathroom with no blinds or curtains to cover it. The window might not be completely transparent but I'd still like something extra for peace of mind. It was a bit strange to be given two single duvets for a double bed and a little annoying to find that every evening I had to make it again, rather than the housekeeping staff just either leaving it as it was or making it themselves. Unfortunately when I arrived at the hotel an hour and a bit before check in time, they apparently had a lack of storage space for bags so I was lucky to only have to take a backpack around Cologne, otherwise it could have been very challenging. I booked the hotel expecting 4 star standards but in reality it was decidedly average. I personally wouldn't stay here again but if you are looking for a reasonably priced centrally located hotel in Cologne you can't go too wrong.
JJoe the world citizenThe hotel is located beside the train station. There are many restaurants nearby and the cathedral is not too far away. The staffs were a little weird. They tried to be funny but maybe something was lost in translation and made us feeling uncomfortable. One of the staffs didn’t understand our question in English, but instead of trying to understand our question, she insisted her answer which left us more confused. Another staff completely ignored us when we were trying to talk to him because he was “busy” doing something else behind the desk although he made a lot of uncomfortable jokes at the beginning.
Jjerry=chenI saw that there is a Wyndham five-star hotel in Beijing before, so I thought it was good and booked it. The location is really good, just next to Cologne Station Square, just across the road. The service of the front desk girl is also very good and very enthusiastic. The room is pitifully small, and the bed is almost impossible to turn over. The hotel has been decorated for a long time, and the hygiene is average but not dirty. It may be because of the old facilities. The elevator is very small, and the elevator can only accommodate one person with a slightly larger suitcase. The hotel is next to the Cologne Cathedral, and next to the commercial area, which is convenient for shopping and dining. I didn't pay attention to not choosing breakfast when booking the room, so I bought it separately later. The breakfast category is okay.
TThành Trung TrầnHygien, room, bed, quietness everything was great except that I got this problem with the receptionists. So I did explain to all the receptionist (that I saw-because I understand they work in shifts) that I lost 2 luggages due to the airline's mistake and airline will send them to this hostel where I would be staying (for 1 night only). I explained that if someone sent luggages here, please tell me asap because I needed to catch a train to Amsterdam the nextday noon. Imagine 35kg of personal belongs just dissapeared, I didnt have toothbrush, clean clothings.... I reminded them everything 3-4 hours when I saw a receptionist. After almost 27 hours of waiting in worry (which made me cannot enjoy the city), I talked to one receptionist to please check 1 more time becauze the airlines mailed me that they did send to the hostel at 4:30pm in the day I checked-in hostel, (only 4-5 hours after my flight time), she let me go it the luggage room and my luggages were there the whole time! So I waited in pain for 22 hours for nothing. I think it would be a bit obvious when 1 guy in delivery company uniform went in with 2 luggages and said ”this is from one of your customer.” But the receptionist just forgot it quickly and didnt tell me. I had to change a lot of my plan and I was feeling terible and stressful with the waiting and fear of lost luggages.
Beside that, the condition of rooms, facilities, warm water, sound proof windows were great.
The reason for the location of this select hotel in an area devoid of personality, tourist attractions or facilities is totally unknown to me. And to get to the hotel, from Koln central station you have to change several means of transport. The price is really indecent for what it offers. He tries to stand out but fails miserably. For a 4-star hotel, the rooms are small, with limited equipment. There is no minibar or mini-fridge, no safe for valuables. Even a wardrobe for clothes is not provided, instead you will find a sheath in the wall with several hangers. And the concept of the bathroom is totally impractical: open bathroom in the room, with all the steam that spreads in the room, without towel holders. There is no possibility of heating the room, or at least it didn't work, given that the outside temperature during the night was close to freezing. A big problem was serving breakfast: around 7 am it was impossible to find a single seat at the table. At check-out I was asked to pay for the room again, although I had paid at check-in and I also had the issued invoice. In short, there are much better places in this world to stay and feel welcome!
FFlawedI stayed here for 4 nights while attending an International Expo nearby. I chose it due to ts excellent location to the old town square (5 mins walk) and nearby transit options. Check in was painful and laborious having to give all same information again despite booking online and handed an old fashioned key with a giant key ring (a door knob) The gothic decor is initially quite charming with darkened wood and portraits of dead people everywhere. The single room was cramped, tired and dated and boiling hot. With no air conditioning or the ability to open the window more than an inch I was left to roast away while trying to sleep. No sleep was managed. PIllows are thin, mattress is thin, uncomfortable bed. Shower is rubbish and a curtain so short its impossible to not cover the floor in water. No glass in room so had to get one from reception. Breakfast is ok, fairly basic cold options - meat, cheese, bread, boiled egg, cereal and juices. Dining room has some appeal and was tidy with tables cleared quickly. The main advantage of this hotel is the location, there is nothing else.
