Hotel Esplanade

I visit Cologne once in a while and stayed in Hotel Esplanade several times since the late 1990's. The hotels location is excellent, very near the metro stop at the Rudolfplatz. The hotel has relatively small rooms but that is fine for us. Personnel is kind and the breakfast buffet is excellent. I certainly recommend this hotel and overall it is good value for money! I made some pictures of the breakfast to give you an idea (but i captured not the entire buffet, they also have cheeses etc).

Excellent service. The staff are very friendly. Even though we didn't get coffee facilities in the room. Coffee was available at the bar, the cost was added to our room. But later waved when we checked out. Breakfast is continental, not much cooked stuff, rooms very clean and comfortable. Loved the shower. Good pressure and temp. There is also a well stocked mini bar in the rooms.

Delightful hotel. I lived the style of this hotel, going back to the days when hotels were smaller, simpler and with personal service. Easy to find and in a central location. If you like the retro look of the hotel, then you won't be disappointed. It's a classic with small but immaturely kept rooms. The breakfast is incredible! While chunky door keys, which are kept at the 24 hour reception are another call back to the past. The staff are friendly and spoke perfect english.
