Context: Stayed here with my wife and friends in Jul-2022. Arranged at short notice after Airbnb let us down. Pros: On Brusselerstrasse, part of an area with lots of good restaurants, and easy to get to centre of town. Desk staff friendly. Room windows can be open completely which is much better than most hotels. Breakfast included. Reasonable outdoor seating area. Cons: Bed set up was different to our booking. One large flat pillow. Had to ask for towels. Quite loud until late on a weekend. Few power sockets - glad I brought a runner socket.. Limited place to store cases. Not comfortable to sit around in room. Door says best prices offered inside; desk staff said best prices offered online (and the online prices were about 25% less). Overall: Probably a little overpriced, but would be happy enough to stay here again..

· A small hotel with a really personal atmosphere, situated about 25 minutes' walk from the Cathedral, the Old Town and the Rhine. There are, however, trams and trains running (silently) close by, at regular intervals. Our flight was so badly delayed that we arrived at 4 in the morning and yet we received an extremely gracious welcome from Diran, who took no time at all over the checking-in process and allowed us to get a few hours' sleep before breakfast. That was served in a pleasant dining room, equipped with all the necessary safety precautions of recent years and offered an excellent and very extensive choice, which was replenished regularly. Our room, at the rear of the hotel, was bright and cheerful and we enjoyed the fact that it had a balcony, on which we could stand...when the weather allowed! The bathroom was small, but adequate and there was never a shortage of hot water. Wifi reception was good and although there wasn't a need for it, during our stay, we appreciated the telephone in the room and the opportunity to contact staff, in an emergency; something a lot of hotels, these days, are dispensing with. A suggestion only...the background music in the dining room could be turned up, just a little, to drown the noise of crockery and cutlery...and to allow the guests to feel comfortable about talking to each other during breakfast. Overall, however, it was the staff - Marcello, Christian, Alexander and Diran who made our stay so enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble, information was plentiful and every encounter was marked by interest in our activities, concern for our welfare and a good deal of humour. They should be commended for the good work they are doing to make their guests feel relaxed and a little pampered. Thank you all for such lovely memories of Cologne ·

The hotel does have private rooms available, so that's what we got for our family with younger kids. The location is out of the city centre, but public transport made this distance less of an issue. The hostel is still located with a lot of local places of interest too. (over the road if one of the best cafes I've been to for breakfast anywhere I've stayed - Cafe Buur) The staff were helpful, and easy to speak with. We had booked a different room to the one we got, and had a lot less space. Each bunk still allowed us decent privacy and we slept well. The common areas are kept very clean too. Each room has a unique decoration theme - ours was the circus.

The (non-upgraded) room is relatively spacious, well designed and quiet. I'm glad I did not accept a higher cost upgrade option. It was great for a 4-day stay. There's a separate area for clothing and storage, and a small refrigerator. There was a wall of windows, good light and effective blackout curtains. The in-room coffee service is nice - I didn't find this in my other hotels. The breakfast buffet is worth the price, especially considering the quality, and that a single cup of coffee elsewhere can easily be 5 Euros. It's not a train station hotel (one mile away from the HBF and the Dom), but this hotel is in a very nice area, and is convenient to a great many dining and entertainment options for a Cologne tourist. It's not horrible to take the train here (with one connection) if you are reasonably mobile. Public transit options are many once you figure them out. The USB charging outlets are helpful -- and I did not find these in any other of my hotels. Overall, this chain is a significant step up from the likes of Ibis and Motel One. This hotel is very much worth the reasonable premium it charges. Desk staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I would happily return to this property.

I used to live a few times before, every time I feel it is OK, this time I added a new automatic check-in system at night, it feels more convenient, as long as the requirements are not many friends, this hotel is still a good choice

The hotel is centrally located in Cologne. Even the ride in the lift is something special - on the back walls pictures run with, great idea. The Maisonette room in the upper floor with roof terrace was very fine, so I could still sit out a little uninterrupted to work or read in the evening. Beautiful would have been a private LAN connection to the writing sight. There is breakfast in the separate restaurant in the same house. A very nice house overall - like again ! :-)
