The Old Bakehouse

Lovely place to stay. Very warm and welcoming. Use of the dinning area for evening take away if needed and encouraged to make the most of the fab collection of vinyl records on the record player in the lounge area. Beds very comfortable, cooked breakfast were generous and delicious. Village is pretty and very interesting with a couple of good pubs and a tapas bar to walk to. We will definitely be back next year.

This was a real gem in a small market town in Devon . The hosts were very friendly and made us feel at home . Excellent breakfast with lots of choices . Comfortable bed and everywhere spotless Thanks Steve and Fiona for making our stay enjoyable .

A fabulous stay at The Old Bakehouse! A great welcome, upgraded room and amazing collection of vinyl!! Such a comfortable room,clean and pretty. Had a great evening perusing the good selection of books in the lounge and helping ourselves to the record player! Steve made sure we had reggae accompanying us for breakfast,which was delicious. A superb place in every way. Fabulous room, breakfast. Steve and Fiona couldn't do enough for us and played various albums for us at breakfast. They asked what we liked and made sure the album was played when we sat down. Superb location also to the fabulous Kingfisher pub and The Bear bakery. Highly recommended!!

A very comfortable room, clean and beautifully furnished. Service was excellent and very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was well presented with a good range of foods to chose from. Very close to local amenities and eating places. Highly recommended.

Our experience at the Old Bakehouse was excellent from start to finish. Very friendly welcome and check in, spotless and comfortable accommodation and wonderful breakfast using locally sourced produce. Great location for exploring Devon. Highly recommended.

We stayed four nights. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice and preparation excellent. We used the pay and display car park a very short walk away which had the added bonus of a longer pass that also allowed you to park free in all East Devon car parks. The pub directly opposite had great food.

Fantastic B&B in this lovely village. The owners were very welcoming and lovely people. The breakfasts were delicious and the rooms very comfy. Sustainability and caring for the environment are clearly important. We parked our car on the street a short walk away and did not use it for the three days that we were there. Instead we used the tram, the bus and our feet. There are two nearby pubs - The Kingfisher (across the road from the B&B and the Gerrard Arms which both serve very good meals).

What makes a great B&B? Well....start with a good bed. The bed at the Old Bakehouse was king sized and very comfy; the room looked over the main street through Colyton - the pub a few steps away served great food! Secondly, a good breakfast. Well....the breakfast at the Old Bakehouse was excellent with locally sourced produce, and plenty of it. Start with cereals, juice and fresh fruit, finish with toast and coffee. Add to this very friendly and informative hosts, and a personalised music selection and it's easy to see why this is a winning combination. Well-recommended, a fantastic stay in a lovely town - two pubs a short walk away and easy on-street parking, plus great value for money. We'll certainly return! Many thanks to Steve and Fiona.
