Myselt and my husband have recently returned from a 2 week half board holiday at H10 Hotel Dunas. Our first impressions were very good, we stayed in a junior suite overlooking the pool area, the room was clean and quiet. Food was good, our evening meals were ordered from a La carte menu, this was fine but pot luck if the meal arrived hot enough. Starters were very disappointing, variety of choices were minimal and vegetarian dishes had meat added to them. Desserts were nice but would have enjoyed ice-cream but that's just my own opinion. Our 2 week stay was relaxing and chilled up until the last day which left a bitter taste. We had a late flight so enquired about extending our room, to be told by the lady on reception that it had to be done 24hours before your last day. My husband went to reception at 7:30am the day before we left to be told that we could extend for 4 hours at a cost of €40, he also cancelled our evening meal because we wanted to eat out on our last night. We spent our last day by the pool, I went to the room at 12:20 to find I was locked out. I went to reception and was approached by Jonathan the reception manager. He said he had been looking for us because we should have checked out at 12pm. I explained that we had asked to extend or room and was told it was fine. ‘Impossible’ was all Jonathan said numerous times. My husband then came and explained the situation to be told impossible, the reception is not manned at that time in the morning! After getting nowhere with the situation I asked how long had we got to shower and pack away our things, he looked at his watch and said 13.00pm!!! Leaving us 20 minutes to get sorted. Jonathan was very rude, argumentative and completely obnoxious. There are ways to speak to guests and I can honestly say l've never been spoken to like this in any other hotel all over the world. Afterwards, Jonathan approached my husband and said he had spoken to his colleague and we had only cancelled our evening meal - ( so there was someone manning the reception after all) plus how did we know the cost to keep the room on? I believe your holiday should start with a warm welcome and that should continue right up to you leaving the hotel check out, unfortunately this was not the case for us and it has left me now reconsidering booking another H10 hotel. However, I do want to leave this review on a positive note, William the dining room manager is the jewel at Hotel Dunas, he is approachable, has a great presence amongst the guests and met everyone's needs whenever he was on duty. ⭐️ Just sad that our holiday ended on a negative note ☹️
