The hotel is good, there's no denying that. Why the 3 stars then? After two previous holidays in other parts of the world where our stay was marred by construction work in the vicinity of our accommodation, I got in touch at the time of booking with their customer support - this was months ahead of the actual stay - to request a room far away from any inevitable construction work that goes on at the hotel. I was assured that it would be covered. I reminded them of this a week before the actual trip. The rooms we got were on the 3rd floor, premium seaview, that was *exactly* under a room where there was renovation being done. I'm not sure whether I was being trolled by the reception staff or the fates, but I was shocked. For the first few days, there was scraping and hammering going on throughout the day, but moreso in the afternoon. I would have normally asked for a different room, but because we were travelling with my elderly parents in law and moving rooms would be a hassle we made no fuss. Ffwd to day 6, where between 3 and 5 in the afternoon there were *power drills* rattling our room. *Power drills* in a 5* hotel at 4 o'clock in the afternoon when people are resting. I called reception and was immediately called back by Victoria who assured me that the noise would stop. And it did. The only reason this is a 3 and not a 1-star review is due to Victoria and some of the staff. On the subsequent day, same time in the afternoon the power drills were replaced by heavy hammering and extremely loud scraping. I went down to a sourly gentleman at reception who called Victoria. I explained that I understand that renovations are a necessity, but that the window in which they were being carried out, in the afternoon, during siesta time, is ridiculous for a 5* hotel. Again, Victoria was apologetic, understanding and an all-round extremely nice person. She offered to move us, but with just 3 days left in our stay we declined. For the remaining days, construction work was carried out in the morning, when people are at the pool, exploring, or diving, which makes sense. The fact that I had to point this out to them still baffles me. Staff: other than a young gentleman at reception who was always smiling and attentive, the other reception staff I interacted with were mostly sour-faced and I dreaded any interaction with them (thankfully these interactions were limited). Everyone else at the hotel was outstanding. From Victoria in the customer relations team to restaurant staff, to the lady who cleaned our room and the pool attendants everyone was on point. Room: the room was good. We had two premium seaview rooms, which were spacious with a nice terrace. Our parents' room was slightly larger with a significantly larger terrace, at the same pricepoint, so be mindful of that. The minibar was well-stocked, though despite a daily 5EUR tip, on one of the days the lady in charge of restocking it, simply forgot to do it? No big deal though. As previously ment
