I had a disappointing stay at Residence Inn Covington. First the good... this is a great location. It is convenient to a Publix (right across the street) and convenient to Covington Square (very nice area with great restaurants and boutique shopping). The building is new and that is a bonus. Many of the staff people I spoke to were pleasant. Despite the newness of the facility, the room had some cleanliness issues. Given the issues I encountered, as I left my first morning there, I asked that my room be serviced. I explained that there was a lot of hair on the floor of my room (carpet and bathroom floors). When I came back at the end of the day, my room had been serviced, but there was still hair in some places and I had also noticed ”foot” prints on the bathroom floor. I could clearly see the outline of toes and feet marks on the floor. I had assumed that would have been taken care of since I had asked that my room be cleaned. It wasn't. And there were still random hairs all over that were not mine. So the next morning, I asked the person at the front desk that my room be cleaned again. I was assured it would be cleaned. But when I came back at the end of that day, the room had not been touched. Also, there was trash and dirty towels sitting outside my door that belonged to the room next door. It was very unsightly. So I went downstairs and asked why my room had not been cleaned. I was informed that my room had not been cleaned because I had my privacy sign on my door. But this was absolutely not true. I had taken my privacy sign off the door when I left. What was interesting was that they indicated since my privacy sign had been on the door (according to them - again, my privacy sign had not been on the door), I could not have my room serviced as there was no one to do it at that point. After I insisted that my privacy sign had not been on the door, I was told that the Housekeeping Manager was still there and that person would clean my room. So they decided that someone was actually available since I explained that the privacy sign was not on my door. I didn't appreciate that I was told no one could clean my room because everyone was gone. But then all of sudden someone was available. As I finished my discussion with the front desk I turned to run back to my room to gather a few items before leaving again. As I walked toward the elevator, I heard some hallway conversation that sounded like it was hotel staff venting. I heard something along the lines of ”guests need to be accountable.” So I heard staff venting about guests. That was very unprofessional. Overall, the facility is nice, and I'd like to be able to stay again - but not until these issues are worked out.
