Really enjoyed our 2 night stay here while visiting Shropshire. Room was a good size with a comfy bed and a nice bathroom with shower. Lots of attention to detail - the jar of tasty biscuits (presume home made) were very much appreciated. It was good we were able to use our gift voucher here, just paying a £30 supplement per night for a Friday and Saturday. All the food was excellent and nicely presented. We especially enjoyed the lamb meal we had, so lean and tender, and the home made bread was delicious. We would certainly visit again when visiting the Shropshire area.

We were able to book a last minute dinner for 8 family members over the busy Easter weekend. We are not the easiest to please as we have various ages and diets however we were all really happy with the chefs ability to accommodate changes to the menu, my daughter vegetarian request- with a full separate menu and we received freshly made, delicious food. Thanks to Richard and all the team. A lovely place!

Had a wonderful stay here this week. Jane and Richard are the perfect hosts and they’ve found excellent staff to compliment them in the running of the bar/ restaurant. Lovely room with one of the comfiest beds we’ve ever slept in and the inn itself is full of character. The big plus however is the food! We travelled to London before Christmas to see The Mousetrap and decided to treat ourselves to a meal in the original Ivy. It certainly didn’t disappoint but we were even more impressed here in Shropshire. All locally sourced and could hold its own against any top flight restaurant. Can’t wait to return with friends!

We enjoyed our stay at The Crown Country Inn very much. It’s an unusual place, but very clean, the food cooked by the owner was very tasty and the staff were friendly helpful. Would definitely visit again.

Just a 20 minute drive from Bridgnorth on the Craven Arms road is this lovely restaurant/ pub. This has become THE place to go for a meal for us and especially when we have people visiting. No matter what you order, everything has an amazing flavour. Always a great selection of ales which does change from time to time. A larger range of drinks is also available. To add to the service is top notch. Genuinely can’t praise this place enough.

Finally able to make our annual pilgrimage here for the first time since Covid.. The Crown has been one of our favourite places to stay for many years and it did not disappoint this time either! We were made very welcome by Jane, had a lovely comfy room and Richard has certainly lost none of his skill as a chef. We could happily have chosen several options for every course of dinner, portions were generous and everything, including breakfast, was perfectly cooked. Despite all the challenges of recent times, Jane and Richard are continuing to provide an exceptional experience. Long may this continue as we look forward to our next visit.

My apologies to Jane and Richard for taking so long to write this review. Life gets in the way. Having visited the Crown since their opening, we are always impressed by the imaginative menus which are executed brilliantly by chef Richard and the wonderful welcome from Jane and her team . Although we have dined at the Crown as a couple and with friends , it is the wonderful family celebrations which I'd like to mention here. We have booked the Crown on three occasions over the last few years for parties to celebrate a Golden wedding, a Ruby wedding and a 90th birthday .On each occasion our guests ( around 25) were welcomed with drinks ,seated comfortably , treated amazingly and enjoyed wonderful food. We were able to use the cosy private dining room in winter and the beautiful gardens and pergola in the summer . I cannot fault the Crown as a venue for a Romantic meal , a supper with friends or a good knees up with family to celebrate milestones. If you a considering a special occasion just ring the Crown ,Jane and Richard are lovely people and will go out of their way to accommodate your wishes and create bespoke event for you and your loved ones . Thankyou Jane and Richard for helping us make wonderful memories .

A wonderful building with a wonderful team. Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The room was a great size with a large comfy bed and great en suite bathroom. The food, both at breakfast and in the evening was exceptional quality accompanied by exceptional service; the homemade bread, jam and black pudding were a great touch. The atmosphere in the pub is toasty warm with a friendly buzz.

It would have been good to have had the opportunity to join the many 5-star reports on this hotel, but sadly their management failed and almost landed us outside this hotel on a dark Friday night with nowhere to sleep. and this was to be the second stop. I had a Red Letter Day voucher and wanted to stay on the 19th & 20th of January. I spoke with Jane Arnold who, with her husband Richard, apparently runs this hotel. I was told that I would have to pay a supplement of £30 a night on top of the voucher because we would be staying on a Friday and Saturday. That agreed I made the point that the particular Saturday was my wife's birthday and, that we would want to eat in on both nights. This was all agreed upon some weeks ago and, had it not been for the fact that we had friends as near as Welshpool, who we then invited to join us for dinner on my wife's birthday, I would have had no reason to contact the hotel again before arriving on their doorstep. As I had to alter the evening meal booking of 7pm. from two to four people, fortunately, I needed to telephone to make the change, I was met with a recorded statement advising that the hotel was now closed for its winter break and would be re-opening on Friday the 26th January - By which time I had obviously invited our friends. It should not be difficult to imagine my shock, especially as I had booked our stay with the lady of the house, and not an employee. Very fortunately The Valley Hotel in Iron Bridge stepped into the breech and our stay there could not have been better. Nor, did it put our friends out unduly travelling from Welshpool. Naturally, when we are next in that area, we shall be staying at this Best Western hotel, particularly because the email that I sent almost immediately upon hearing that recorded message has not moved Jane Arnold to respond. Really? It will be good to know where I stand with the Red Letter Day voucher. It is a shame to have to spoil a run of 5 star reviews, but the seriousness of the position we could have faced had I not had a reason to 'phone, I feel needs to be shared. Others may not be so lucky if they happen to clash with the Arnold's holiday plans. I would have better understood had I been advised of their last-minute plans. It would have given me time to change mine and realise that everyone in the catering industry needs a break at some time - Just think of those you may upset in doing so without notice.
