Gurung Guest House

The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated. The view was amazing, and so was the food! From the dining hall itself we got a wonderful view while enjoying the palatable & delicious course served, every single meal. Everything was kept neat and clean. Good quality thick blankets were provided in generous quantities. Some books & magazines were also there to read when bored. Service and hospitality was excellent. Hot water was always provided, whenever and wherever necessary. Overall, a really good stay! TLDR: Good service, Good rooms, Great view, Great food, Great stay.

We stayed with our family and one friend for 2 days in April 2023. The location is excellent and the rooms are very good. Though we did not get to see the Kanchenjunga because of haze and cloud cover the scenic beauty was excellent. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food was very good and tasty. Excellent experience.. excellent hospitality of each and every staffs..with every facilities you can expect in a offbeat hill destination.. excellent food menu selections and awesome finger licking food..just loved overall experience..will surely visit again 👌👌♥️

Stayed in double bed room and we booked 3 rooms which were wood panelled rooms with small individual attached balconies. Bathrooms were clean and provided with basic toiletries, towels, geyser. Food was awesome, homely, not at all oily or spicy and yet delicious and always piping hot. Darjeeling tea was served at the room in the morning, evening and at dining hall after breakfast. Their homemade ghee and achar are worth mentioning. Their food is kid friendly ( my 6 years old who is an extremely picky eater was very happy with their food) The people who are providing all room services and dining room services are all family members of Gurung family and yet professionally trained and extremely efficient. We came to Takdah from Darjeeling in a bus ( available from Darjeeling bus stand at chawk bazar) and Mr. Dipendra Gurung arranged for local taxi till his guest house ( it was peak season time and no taxi was available at the local stand). Mr. Gurung is open to requests, cordial and yet very professional in dealing with all his guests. They are the richest family in the region for generations and yet never lost their politeness and respectfulness which is a remarkable characteristics of the hill ppl. We even realised how Gurung Guest house's facilities and services were class apart, when just after staying there, we stayed at Darjeeling Blossom homestay at Chota Mangwa 😂

Back at Tinchuley - the tranquil beauty of Darjeeling Himalayas . Mystic fog , shrouding cloud and occasional bright sunshine with majestic view of Kanchenjunga - if you are a mountain lover what else you need ! And as I am again enjoying the hospitality of Gurung Guest House - no need to be worried about anything else! Dipen ( Dipendra Gurung, the owner ) is there to take care of everything. I can only find the improvements and incorporation of feedback many guests provided earlier . The food menu and taste is diverse and tasty , especially given the challenging weather conditions and remote locations. Boys at the guest house are extremely cordial and helpful . One should at least come once here if you enjoy the silent sound of the Himalayas!

What a trip! 3 nights in Gurung Guest House defined a true definition of hospitality. I have seen the owner making 'chapati' with his crew, experienced the waiter playing a guitar with our songs to entertain us, realized a simple homestay, nice rooms can go above and beyond with a simple character of care, kindness and genuine hospitality!

From the onset Mr. Gurung was very professional regarding the guest house. He specifically mentioned the food rates, car hire charges on one side to what to expect at the guest house. The rooms were tidy and clean and had all the basic amenities. The restrooms were clean and decent but none of the four rooms we booked had exhaust. The food was tasty and nice. But during all the days of our stay the lunch menu was almost the same, consisting of fried fish and egg curry. The management can look into this. Overall a good experience.

Gurung Guest House is a family run, cozy place. Imagine great home cooked meals, tidy rooms, lazy walks, and misty evenings with chai and pakodas. This place offers all that, with a smile. Staff are very friendly. Mr Gurung, the owner, runs the place very efficiently, and we found him very helpful and open to requests. We would definitely stay here if we are revisiting this region. Highly recommended for at least a couple of days' relaxed stay.

Gurung Guest House is the oldest home stay at Tinchuley Village . We stayed in Super Deluxe Room at the rate of INR 4400 without food per night which is not a value for money offer comparing the amenities and facilities.But the Food is very good and home style. Moreover all the staffs are very cordial,caring and well mannered. One negative point is during powercut Generator runs till 11 pm only and no other power back up available during the rest of night. Besides the dining room and particularly wash basin area is poorly maintained. Hope management will look into this. Gumbadhara View Point for Mt.Kanchenjungha is 1.5 km away.They have their own travel desk for Guests. Breakfast ,Lunch and Dinner INR 700 per head.
