Popular Darlinghurst 4-star Hotels

The good - the location is pretty central and the bed was very comfortable. The ride to/from the airport was about 20 minutes and about 50 dollars Aus. We could book the room for one night on the New Years' weekend and it was ＜ $200 US. The rest - Overall, the Kirketon could use an update. The hotel facility was retrofitted into the building and while this can produce a fun and funky (in a good way) experience, the Kirketon is more funky (in not a good way). The lobby and room furnishings are tired and weird (not in a ”hip” way). The windows are FILTHY. I think the room and bathroom were clean but the lighting is not great. There is no lift so be prepared to carry you and all your stuff up the stairs. Our room was strangely laid out so that there was about 1 foot between the bed and wall and we had to lift our suitcases over the bed to get them to the other side where we could put them down. We also basically had to walk sideways to move through that opening. The bathroom was a long, thin (~12 foot x 2 foot - think bowling lane) ”room” with a small sink at the top of the corridor and toilet at the end with the shower jutting back into the main room on the side.

I stayed one night at The Manor House Hotel and it was an unpleasant stay that nearly ruined my planned break in Sydney. We booked a room at the Manor House Hotel and the heater in the room was not working. We informed the reception and the lady on duty came to check it to turn it on. The AC/ Inverter was faulty and never warmed the cold room! We called the service numbers available at reception and were told to wait until the next day. We checked out the next day and never received a call from the hotel. Poor management! Poor service! Very unsatisfied guest experience! We will never set food there again and so won’t our friends! I expect a refund of my stay because it is not worth it!!!!

The location is very good, right next to Hyde Park and very convenient to the subway station. The view is great. The room facilities are relatively complete, the hygiene is pretty good, the front desk service is pretty good, and I'm basically satisfied.

Where do I start, it was dirty and needed major maintenance and upgrading, the apartment is only suited for 3 people and definitely Not 5 people, when we booked it stated bedroom = 2 double beds, living room = 1 bed sofa which in my head and probably most others it sounds like 2 bedrooms, erm no it was 1 bedroom with the worse double bed mattress ever so hard and thin, a double bed was placed in the living room with the sofa bed. We paid well over $1,000 for just 3 nights and was disgusted by the whole apartment, our travellers included 2 x couples and our elderly mum who had no option but to sleep on a rock hard very dirty sofa bed at the age of 75 yrs old, the carpets were so badly stained it was dirty and disgusting, the soap suds while in the shower came up out of the grid on the bathroom floor itself, the kitchen was equipped with only 3 cups, 3 pieces of cutlery. We called the manager in charge which I presume was the owner and all they offered us when we explained the sleeping conditions was we have another apartment for 1 of your couples but it will cost you an additional couple of hundred dollars per night,which we replied no way we have paid well over $1,000 for this which definitely is NOT worth the money at all. he kept saying but if you rent a place in this location it will cost you that a month, I’m like hang on we paid this price for 3 nights not a month, he bought the price of the additional apartment down to around $150 per night we still said no and he said well there is nothing we can do. We suffered the 3 nights but NEVER AGAIN, and I would definitely NOT NEVER recommend to anyone at all not even a couple of people because it was dirty and an awful nights sleep. Don’t get me wrong the hotel it’s situated in is lovely bright and clean, but by god when we opened the apartment door we thought omg I wouldn’t put my dog in there, we would have booked elsewhere if it wasn’t for the price we paid for it. So people I would AVOID at all costs I’m sorry, I wish I had read the reviews before my sister had booked this hell hole. The hotel is located in an excellent location in the heart of the Sydney CBD. The rooms are spacious and clean however a bit dated. Although the room was pre-paid my card was charged for a second time. I pointed this out to the front desk staff and it was quickly resolved although I wonder how often that happens. The entire hotel is in need of a refurb so not sure the rooms are worth the price however it served my purposes and was not a bad experience.

I stayed at the hotel for 2.5 weeks during one of the busiest times in Sydney. The rooms were cleaned daily. The staff exceptional. The manager on duty incredible. I had a few hiccups as any traveller would at any hotel but once mentioned by me to the staff they without hesitation went beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. It isn’t the most glamorous or biggest or even the most sophisticated place but it was perfect for a solo guy like me travelling in Australia for Mardi Gras and site seeing. Other friends of mine ran into numerous problems beyond my challenges at other big chain hotels but this little place kept me going and made me very happy. I’d return anytime. It’s location is perfect for site seeing and a overnight sleep or daytime nap. Thanks to all the staff there that were amazing. See ya again soon I hope!

Sydney Boutique Hotel was the perfect place to stay for us during our 3-days visit in Sydney. The Hotel was really quite, our room had a big balcony, a kingsize bed and was comfortable. The hotel is located just a 5 min walk from the train station. We explored a lot of things (like the Australia Museum, the Sydney Eye and the shopping street) by walking, the location was super. And the staff was really friendly and helpful. They even postet my postcards for me.
