Family-friendly Hotels in Daxin

Hua Lu (Lost in Nature) Hotel My wife and I stayed here for three nights in December 2023, but regretted that our schedule did not allow us to stay longer. The Hua Lu Hotel is a charming boutique hotel located in the Ming Shi village that features clusters of needle mountains that aggressively protrude from what otherwise appears to be a level agricultural plain. The origins of the village were for its farming potential but the stunning beauty of the location has popularized it as a tourist haunt, a place to visit either before or after checking out the Detian Waterfall on the China-Vietnam border. In among the locals’ modest houses, several B&Bs and hotels have sprouted to cater to tourists wanting a wide spectrum of accommodations from the extremely basic up to relatively high-end resorts. The Hua Lu (Lost in Nature) is best categorized as a high-end boutique hotel. It is situated on the eastern periphery of Ming Shi well away (approximately a kilometer) from a busy highway around which many of its competitors are clustered. The accent at the Hua Lo is on tranquility. Our room was a well-conceived suite that had been furnished with a Zen sensibility. The bathroom featured an oversize bathtub and separate shower unit, and there was a spacious and comfortable sitting area. A south-facing balcony overlooked an intensely cultivated, multi-acre market-garden, irrigated by river-fed, man-made channels. Locals could be observed tending crops from dawn to dusk in these fields. A Chinese style breakfast was included the room fee, but we also opted to eat dinner each evening in the hotel restaurant. Both breakfast and dinner meals were prepared with an accent on health and use of locally grown foods. After dark, an open fireplace in a courtyard was used to barbecue snacks such as sweet potato and chicken: the courtyard doubled as a children’s play area and storage place for bicycles (pedal) which could be used by hotel guests. Evidence suggests that tourism has trumped agriculture as the main occupation of the Ming Shi village. For tourists who prefer a more communal experience, the village offers guided sampan tours on the river that wends its way through the village. However, the best way to benefit from the village scenery is by bicycle. Cycling around the village and its dramatic needle-mountain vistas is easy, the bike trails are converted ag paths that intertwine the crop fields. They are paved and free of the traffic of tourist coaches, trucks and E-scooters that rage along the main highway. My wife and I felt that we had come across a gem of experience that vastly exceeded our expectations when we booked the hotel. We plan to visit again next year, to enjoy a longer stay with the R&R it provides. Sean Bennett

During the Spring Festival, I went to Chongzuo to see Detian Waterfall. The waterfall is in Daxin County, Guangxi. It takes 1 hour to drive from Daxin County to the waterfall, which is shorter than driving from Chongzuo City. I checked most hotels in Daxin County, and the new Daxin Hotel belongs to the top three levels. Actually stayed for 2 days, the deluxe bed room I chose the day before, and the next day I visited the waterfall around, I still chose this hotel, and I lived in a parent-child child fun room. For a family with children, it is more suitable to live in a child fun room. The room rate does not include breakfast, but you can buy breakfast coupons. Adults 20, 1 meter 2 children 10 yuan a person, there are snail noodles, noodles, buns, etc., no surprises but full. If you park, you can stop in the hotel yard, which is very convenient. The overall accommodation experience is good, parent-child travel, the pursuit of cost-effectiveness is worth choosing

I stayed 2 nights at the Mingshi Mountain Village. The amenities were very nice, as well as the service. The location was very convenient for visiting the Detian Waterfall (about 45 minutes away by car) and also for enjoying the Mingshi Scenic area. I rented a bike from the hotel one day (free with your hotel stay) and had a great time exploring the surrounding bike paths - highly recommend! The hotel staff were also great in helping me arrange a car to take me to the Nanning Airport. I also liked that I could go inside the Scenic Area for free with my room card - it was great for evening walks and for the shows held there at night. I didn’t try the pool (but you need to pay extra for it anyways). The breakfast is nice - it’s what you’d usually find for a Chinese international hotel. There was coffee & milk as well! Overall, it was a good stay and I would stay here again.

The stay was very comfortable, the room was clean and hygienic, the boss was very enthusiastic, and he introduced the surrounding ways and routes in detail, which was very suitable for us to go out without a guide, hehe! The street in front of the hotel is clean and tidy, there is free parking nearby, the surrounding environment is very beautiful, the Detian Waterfall Scenic Area is so beautiful, there are few people at this time, and every shot is beautiful. It takes about half a day to play in the entire scenic area, which is not very long, you can play slowly, very comfortable!

Located in the heart of the city center but in a small and quiet street so you don’t hear anything from outside. Very clear, bright and comfortable rooms and the staff speak English so it was very simple to ask some information

With the current travel restrictions we were nervous we’d not be allowed into the province and the hotel staff were helpful getting us the information we needed to enter the county and final arrive at their hotel. We felt taken care of and they arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport. They greeted us with smiles, the housekeeper left fruits and a nice hand written note, and the front desk did their best to make our stay a comfortable one. We were traveling with our toddler and the food options were delicious and affordable. We want to say thank you to Chen Kai for going out of his way to make us feel special and welcomed. He speaks English and made many great suggestions regarding travel, activities, and calling the hospitals to see where we could get our nucleic test. The space is surrounded my mountains and it’s green everywhere you look. You can take a boat ride along the river located just in front of the property. Currently there is construction on one side, they are expanding the facilities. The whole space is nice as worth a visit. We didn’t give a 5 for amenities because we felt it could have catered more to families.

It's said to be inside the scenic area, but in fact it's still several kilometers away from the entrance. I was quite disappointed at first, but the store owner provided warm and thoughtful service. The next day, he helped me hire a car and buy tickets for the scenic area, which resolved the inconvenience. There is pastoral scenery outside the room, so overall the price-performance ratio is quite high.

The hotel is nestled into the Kapok Scenic Area gardens, and the landscaping is as serene as it is stunning. Buying a ticket and catching the tour bus for Detian waterfall required hiking down the mountain, but the hike offered beautiful vistas. My room was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was satisfactory. I was delighted to discover the room had both a small balcony and a wooden bathtub. The concierge was very helpful, and connected me with a personal driver to take me back into Daxin city, who patiently helped me through a Covid-19 testing requirement issue.

The hotel is in an unbeatable location. It is an ideal choice for transiting to Detian Waterfall. The room is clean and sanitary in the tourist area. Across the road is the parking lot and the visitor center. From there, you can take a shuttle bus directly to the waterfall. During the Spring Festival, the traffic jam was very serious. I stayed here a day in advance and left after breakfast at 8 o'clock the next day. I came out after the water was released at 12 noon. There was not much queuing throughout the whole process. The guy at the front desk was very nice and even set off fireworks for the children to watch. Thumbs up 👍

The hotel service is good. When you approach the room, it is warm inside. The air conditioner has been turned on in advance. The power card in the room is always plugged in. Other hotels rarely do this! A buffet breakfast and lunch are provided, but you have to walk to the Mingshi Villa buffet restaurant 500 meters away. The restaurant is by the lake and has a beautiful environment. The food is okay, not much, at most 4-star standard. The facilities in the room are average, the bed is hard, and one mattress has collapsed and deformed in the middle, but it is good to be able to book it during the peak tourist season.
