De Smet Super Deluxe Inn and Suites

The hotel is very clean and kids also enjoy a lot in pool in the morning start with a fresh breakfast room was very clean and comfortable.the front desk staff is very friendly and supportive there is also service of pizza that is I especially like a lot.

There aren't many options if you want to stay in De Smet. It's certainly not "Super Deluxe" but for the price it's absolutely fine. Would I stay there again if I came to De Smet? I guess so. Would I prefer a different option? I believe I would.

My first time at this hotel, I see why it is called Super and Deluxe! Got to the hotel late at night but the staff made sure to accommodate my stay with providing access to my room afterhours. Warm and cozy reception hall, cleanest dining room and a full popcorn machine along with tea and coffee greet the visitor upon entry. My room was spotless and dustless, even the window panes were clean. There were 2 rocking recliners so that both guests could stretch out - very thoughtful! Perfectly firm queen size bed with 2 extra blankets for cold SD nights was also full of human size pillows made for actual adults. If you are in the area to visit the glacial lakes this is the place to stay! I got to sleep in with a late check out at noon. The shower water was instantly hot and the only noise I heard at night was the wind whipping the trees outside. I got to enjoy the view of the longest full moon eclipse in the last 580 years from my bed sipping a hot tea with popcorn. Super friendly staff made my stay a great experience I felt as though I was at home. I will be back for sure!

This motel is very, very basic and quite shabby. We only stayed there because we didn't arrive in time to finish touring the Laura Ingalls Wilder facilities. I commented that the rooms need a major face lift and my husband said the place needs a wrecking ball. The room was so crowded we hardly had room to open our suitcases and everything in the room looks shabby. I got up in the middle of the night and when I turned the light on, a roach went running across the bathroom floor. Even though there are signs that say no pets, there was dog hair on the carpet in our room. There is no way we would stay here again, no matter how far we had to drive to find different lodging.

It was a nice quiet weekend. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk person when we checked in was very nice and even helped direct us somewhere in town for dinner and suggested we go to dinner before going to our room as places in town don't stay open late and it was around 8pm when we arrived. The breakfast was a bit carb heavy. The freshest thing they had was some yogurt. The pool and hot tub was nice. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here 7 years ago and it was fine. However, this stay had a damp room due to a malfunctioning and dirty AC unit. Gurgling water and dust in it. Consequently, damp carpet and damp sheets. Avoid this place. Stay in neighboring Brookings instead, and drive out to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead.
