Merrion Road - Ballsbridge Townhouse

After seeing the high prices for hotels in Dublin we chose a low cost alternative. Reception is only open from noon until 8pm so make sure you can get there during those times. The room was no frills, but large and clean. Bed comfortable. Shower was scalding hot. Front desk said there was no cold water. Next day we had no hot water. Location -bus, Dart train or inexpensive taxi ride from Dublin. A few pubs and restaurants within walking distance; great Thai place. Good choice for a comfortable night but not a vacation resort-type stay.

Some staff were very unhelpful, only there a portion of the day. Not a good location for Dublin sightseeing, cabs needed often. Spiders in the rooms, shower pressure left a lot to be desired. One night it took almost 10 minutes to get hot water for shower. Beds not that comfy. On plus side rooms & linens very clean.

Lots of hot water but couldn't get it to the shower on the 2nd floor. Used bath which then dumped a lot of brown scum out of the pipework into the bath. Bathroom radiator locked onto full blast heating on a mild day, such that the whole place was way too hot. Lots of messages received after booking but couldn't find the relevant new message behind all the old ones that are shown first in the new mail.

No reception upon arrival at 8:10 pm, no daily room service (first cleaning on 3rd day!), no elevator for your luggage, no breakfast. The so-called superior suite is a lousy, basic room with 3 beds in it, no cupboard, no couch or armchair, a very simple shower, a tiny table on which you can hardly work. And all this for 200 a day. Absolutely sub standard and overpriced. Never again.

Great accommodation. Ideally located for anyone working on the southside of the city, as it's conveniently located on a bus corridor, and not a far walk from Dart stops also. Clean bright rooms, with great facilities, will definitely use again.

No breakfast, spacious room. Weak amenities. Good Kitchenette. But the sofa was old and ugly. The shower wasn’t great and the towels old. The location is good if you need meetings at RDS. Lots of free parking too and even a bbq at the back. It needs better furniture.

We had a room for three and it was nice and clean, with the option to make tea and a mini fridge for snacks. The shower was a little tough to use, there is almost no water pressure. The guesthouse is a little outside of Dublin, but the bus station is right at the guesthouse and the cabs are not too expensive. For a weekend with friends its nice but if you want to stay longer you might look for a more central place in Dublin.

We stayed in the ground floor appartment for 4 people for 2 nights. It was very clean throughout and well equipped in kitchen area with large table and comfortable chairs, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. The only problem was the bed settee was very uncomfortable and would not go back into a settee to sit on. This was resolved by a single bed being put in the room whilst we were out which suited us fine. The staff were very pleasant although non could speak good English and had difficulty understanding us. We did manage to communicate and all issues were resolved quickly. I found the use of smart phone and app difficult to enter the building and room, would much have preferred a card or key but I am not really up on technology. My niece sorted it for me on her phone but then was the only person with access. Very quiet area but pubs and restaurants were in easy walking distance as was a supermarket and beach. Would definitely stay again, especially in this room that opened out onto a garden with furniture and bar b q

Our stay was for 3 nights from April 21-24. The room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly. We also liked the area in which the hotel was located, since it was a very quiet place and well connected to get around the city. All issues were explained to us by email and by phone before our arrival. We want to thank Andrea, the professional who called us before our stay to explain everything to us. Thank you for her kindness and her clear explanations. We will return without a doubt.
