Room was clean and well kept, check in was very easy and simple, when arriving in the room it was very hot, upon opening a window to cool the room down we realised that one of the windows had no lock or seal and could of been opened from the outside easily, although we where on the 2nd floor so unlikely that some one would try to get in from outside. When going for breakfast on the first day, we arrived at 6.58am and the door was locked, we understand that breakfast was not open until 7am but it was cold outside and would of appreciated being able to wait in the bar area where it was warm, when entering the restaurant there was no music playing and no hot water out for tea, upon asking for hot water for the tea the lady working said she would bring one over and did with haste, then when it came to ordering breakfast I found it confusing as no breakfast menu was offered just a member of staff coming over and saying “would you like a full English” as we didn’t want to be rude we both said yes, my partner wasn’t too happy with this not knowing what food was on offer especially seeing as my partner isn’t fond of meat. Breakfast came fast and was nice. The next morning we arrived for breakfast a little after it had opened because of the previous morning, upon arrival music was playing and hot water was available so didn’t have to ask for these, again we where offered a cooked breakfast but this time asked if we could get scrambled egg bacon and toast for my partner and I had a cooked breakfast again. My breakfast again was nice although my partners breakfast was not amazing the bacon was over cooked and the scrambled egg was over cooked and dry. The wait time on this breakfast was also 30-45 minutes after ordering which in a restaurant with 4/5 tables I don’t think is acceptable. That night we decided to eat at the restaurant me and my partner ordered the cottage pie which comes with seasonal vegetables, my partner asked if this included broccoli as she’s pregnant and this sets her off for throwing up, the young lady said she’d take it off for her, then the wait started, again only 5/6 tables in the restaurant one of them being a larger table, but surely they had a preorder so don’t see how this would affect the service, after around an hour of waiting the food arrived and lone behold no broccoli to be seen in my veg so my partner could of had the vegetables, the cottage pie was very nice although the veg was over cooked. The next morning and our final breakfast we both ordered full English with scrambled eggs, again had an 45 minute wait and then when it came out the bacon was overcooked as well as the scrambled eggs….. again. I have worked in the industry of hospitality for around 10 years and understand that sometimes their can be a wait on food and that when it’s busy things do get missed, like overcooked scrambled eggs and bacon. But communication with guests about wait times and making sure that guests do not feel forgotten is a massive help w
