We had a fairly nice stay overall; the rooms are comfortable, the location is great, the breakfast (carry it to your room on a tray) is very decent, and they allow dogs (very big for us). But it could have been much, much better had the staff made some wiser decisions, and we have a few nits to pick. The biggest of these is that we asked for a room with the "country" view (as described on the website) , and got the (far inferior) pool view even though there were several of the former available. The explanation we got made no sense. So we missed out on what was a gorgeous view of the river bluffs at sunset and sunrise, and that really bugged us the entire stay. They really blew that one. Nit number two is the coffee supplied to the rooms is just awful, and the "filter bags" it comes in just don't fit or work in a Mr. Coffee coffee maker (which takes a basket filter). You end up with weakly flavored hot water. A very strange choice, and a bad one. Third, the lack of weather stripping at the bottom of the door left a gap that allowed cold air to shoot in. Maintenance anyone? Lastly, the staff waited way too long after a snow storm to shovel the walkways and outdoor stairs. If you wait too long, it's going to get icy and treacherous. But that's what happened. It just goes to show how much an attentive staff can makes a difference -- and vice-versa. We will probably look elsewhere on our next visit.
