You get what you paid for. Location is perfect. The check in time is not guaranteed. A bit loud due to the bar.

The location is good, right in the core area of the old town, and the surrounding attractions can be reached on foot; by hostel standards, the quadruple room is OK, with a private bathroom; in Edinburgh, this price is acceptable (room rates in Edinburgh are too expensive); there is a parking lot next door, which is convenient, but expensive (30 pounds/night).

I am a solo traveller and enjoy the hostel life. Look its not for everyone, there may be a chance someone snores or the person before you has not left the place in a better state than they found. But the staff @ the AO always go the extra mile, rooms are clean, fresh and I cant pick fault. The price makes travel accessible to all. But for goodness sake have some respect people! Some people are just rude, untidy and dirty then they blame the staff.. ! I will always look for AO in the future, I highly recommend, but if you cant share a dorm with strangers, then book a room!

I would strongly recommend this hostel to friends who are planning to come to Edinburgh. I have stayed there twice. The bedding is clean, the towels are good, the room is large, there is a toilet and shower room, and each bed has a good storage box.
