A manor hotel converted from a century-old monastery, you can fully experience the life of a British manor. The room is very comfortable, and you can see the scenery of the manor outside the window when you wake up in the morning.

Could not fault any aspect of our 2 night stay. We booked as returning guests for my birthday and we were delighted to receive an upgrade on arrival to the Allan Ramsay Suite. Afternoon tea was excellent with just the right balance between sweet and savoury which we enjoyed along with their own branded champagne. Breakfast has everything you could want and the eggs in cup were so delicious that we both had them each morning. The staff are extremely professional and provide an excellent level of service! Lunch in Rhubarb on our second day was again excellent and just what we needed after a long morning walk. It's not often everything is perfect but we couldn't find a single fault! Excellent value for money when compared to other comparable 5 star hotels. Thank you for a lovely stay and we look forward to returning again soon :)

Was wowwwww!!!!! I can’t describe the feeling you have during our stay. The stuff so welcoming and warm, we had a nice dinner. Professional service, and very kind. The room was very clean, we got chocolates, red wine, sparkling and still water, very hot water in the shower. The music in the room make you feel special and like you are in a different atmosphere. We felt like small honeymoon night. Our room view was to Garden. What can i say more?? Absolutely yesss!!! We are definitely back!

What a beautiful hotel, decor and furnishings are absolutely exquisite. We ate off the bar menu which I found to be very reasonably priced given the opulence of our surroundings. A minor hiccup with the order was quickly resolved so thanks go to Marilee, Lewis and Lucas for their excellent service.

We booked an overnight stay here to celebrate an anniversary. Afternoon tea, dinner, bed and breakfast. From the moment we arrived at the door the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our room for the night was luxurious with lots of lovely little extras, champagne, homemade cookies, espresso machine, chocolates, slippers and bathrobes. We loved the high bed, a step is provided to help you to get on it, I needed it as I’m 5’2. The bed was extremely comfortable, we both slept well. Afternoon tea was a real treat, sitting on the terrace watching the Highland cows in the next field, it really didn’t feel like we were in the middle of Edinburgh. Dinner in Rhubarb was very good, excellent wine too, served in one of the opulent dining rooms. Breakfast in the morning in the same dining room was very tasty, my cheese omelette was the best I’ve ever had. Lots to choose from on the menu. Sitting at the window watching Colin the resident peacock strutting his stuff outside was a lovely way to spend Sunday morning. We were sad to leave as we had been thoroughly spoilt over the 24 hours we spent at Prestonfield House, it felt like a million miles from the real world. Thank you to the staff who really made this weekend very special.

Delightful hidden Gem. After lunch in the Garden room celebrating a Special Birthday of a dear friend. 30 plus friends and family. We booked in and stayed over. Lunch was delicious. Our room was opulent and luxurious. We both loved it. Excellent Breakfast. Wonderful staff. The Receptionist was so welcoming, helpful and charming. Will be back to visit.

We had a fabulous dinner on 1 June, it helped that the weather was lovely and warm! Setting: gorgeous setting with view of Arthur's Seat, and incredible interiors (including the washrooms!. Staff and service: excellent. The team members strike a perfect balance between over-formality and over-familiarity (something that is sadly hard to find these days) and are excellent ambassadors for the hotel. In particular, the two gentlemen at the concierge desk at the front entrance were efficient, professional, and welcoming. The service in the dining room was seamless, neither hurried not too leisurely, which contributed to a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Dinner: we ordered sea trout and crab, followed by Scotch fillet steak and lamb loin, and finished with the Scottish cheeses and the orange and Drambuie tiramisu. Overall, we were delighted by the preparation (beef perfectly rare), the flavours, and the quality of the ingredients, with a special mention for the sea trout and the tiramisu. Drinks: we only had a glass of champagne to start (water with the meal), top marks for the house champagne, we were delighted by its crispness, without the acidity that can detract from the pleasure of a champagne aperitif. We also admired, but without trying, the extensive and creative list of dessert wines and digestifs – we will definitely sample these next time! Really excellent evening !

Afternoon tea overpriced for the food that was served. Paid £60 for a nice, yet quite ordinary spread. Lovely greeting at the front door and taken through to a beautiful room where tea was served. Long periods where there were no staff present. Service poor- considering the price I thought would include exceptional service.

Just a totally brilliant stay. The staff make this place with an amazing welcoming what ever the time of day or night. We loved sitting out in the garden area and the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The Rhubarb dining experience is superb and the rooms, oh the rooms are exquisite. I have rarely been to a hotel and had such an amazing time.

This hotel is the one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights during our honeymoon. We could not have asked for a better place to kick off our Scotland roadtrip. The grounds and hotel itself were impeccable. So romantic and charming. The hospitality was also unbeatable. I can’t wait to visit again.

We had 3 fantastic nights at the Prestonfield House and it is hard to find the right words. The staff is outstanding, friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, going the extra miles for you. The Ambiente, you just have to see all the details in the decor and surroundings. Food is first class, and if you don’t feel like a white table cloth dinner, you can have fantastic pub food in a drawing room. The breakfast is a la carte and incredibly good, best eggs ever. The only thing I wished we had is a down comforter instead of a blanket, but that will not keep us away.

Belated review for such an amazing property. My mother and I visited the week of Thanksgiving on the recommendation of friends and enjoyed every minute of their personalized service. The front desk staff was ever present and always wanted to make sure everything was to our liking. The rooms are beautiful and individually/uniquely decorated as are all of the public spaces. Food and drinks were always delicious and it’s a great location. It was a pleasure being there (except when they hosted an event one night that played loud music past midnight) and I would come back in a minute.

I booked us in for dinner (I have left a separate review for the restaurant) bed and breakfast as a treat as it was my wife's 40th. We have both lived in Edinburgh most of our lives and I had never come Prestonfield before but I am so glad we have now. We drove up the most beautiful drive and I parked up and as I was getting the bags from the car a very nice man at the door came across to take them for me. He told me he would drop us at reception and take our bags to our room. At reception we were greeted by Emma who was so nice and we ended up chatting away and continued chatting as we walked up to the room. Emma showed us around the room and it was an amazing room. There was chocolates and Champagne laid out for us which were both lovely and plenty of water. Sometime I think hotels leave one bottle maybe 2 small ones but there was a good amount. Emma was so nice and not to get in to why we were getting away as it was a bit more than just a 40th for my wife, but I found Emma to be very empathetic, and it really put both of us at ease and was really a great way to start. The room was stunning there is a smallish window however with the mirrors next to it we really felt that helped bring in some natural light. They have Sky HD in the rooms and it's like the full package, but I have to be honest we didn't actually use it but it's nice to know it's there. After dinner we went to the Whiskey room for a drink after walking around the beautiful grounds, its hard to believe you are in the middle of a city this is a hidden gem, the have a peacock who was flouting about and highland cows. We had a lovely walk and it was just so peaceful. And we felt a drink in the Whiskey room would just top it off. It was again just so relaxing and such a settled atmosphere it was the perfect end to the evening. We both slept amazingly well the bed is super comfy that was the best nights sleep we have had in years. We went to the restaurant for breakfast and I as always when I am away had the full Scottish and cover it in brown sauce. I did initially ask for brown sauce but I never touched it because I didn't want to ruin the food. Everything was beautifully cooked and I had poached eggs with mine and they were stunning and almost like they had been laid that day. The experience in the restaurant was so nice and relaxing as well we felt very well looked after. When we were leaving Emma was on reception and was genuinely so happy we had a great stay and as we walked down the corridor everyone we passed said goodbye without exception. I was so amazed by the level of service and attention to detail, we were made to fell so welcome and almost as if every member of staff knew who we were by name. It's clear that the standards at Prestonfield are out of this world and we enjoyed every second.
