Lantern Guest House

The picture was our room! Small but clean; it was perfect for us as we were gone from am to pm Turns out it was about a 15 minute walk to Old Towne and lots of little restaurants and bars along the way. This is part of a long row of apartments and houses all joined together...very old European . Was a bus stop on the corner and tram service. So much quainter than a big chain hotel!

A very comfy bed and very quiet at night. Centrally located. Room rather small but just perfect for a base for exploring Edinburgh. Parking is a bit of an issue as had to park a mile away for free parking. Thank you Richard & Rachel for a lovely stay.

We stayed for 3 nights and we loved it very much. Excellent location and a very competitive price. The room was very clean and the bed too confortable (we slept a lot beside the early light. We Are looking forward to come back

What a fantastic place to stay. Brilliant location, barely 10 minutes walk from Waverley station and virtually right on the doorstep for the Playhouse and countless bars and restaurants, yet blissfully quiet in the evening. Easy access with a door code to come and go as you please and undoubtedly the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in! Only spoke briefly with Richard after he came out of his way to see if we were enjoying our stay, but clearly nothing is too much to ask and the milk/water left in the fridge outside of the room were a nice touch. Would definitely look to stay here again on our next visit to Edinburgh.

Pro's: - nice owners - good facilities (towels, tv, immediate hot water, fridge, tea and coffee, shampoo and shower gel, fresh milk and water, cutlery, crockery, ...) - you can come and go as you like, you just enter with a code - nice cozy room - enough cushions - enough lights - enough powerpoints - much info about Edinburgh and things to do, as well as a map you can take with you Con's: - the sanitary area needs a deep clean - the room is very dusty (which is very visible in the ***** of curtains above the window) and from the fact I woke up every morning with swollen eyes and an itchy nose - I recommend some sort of half see-through blind. Now you can either close the curtain during the day or sit for all people who pass by the see you when they happen to look down. - I recommend blackout curtains for during the night. These light curtains had me wake up every morning at 6 because it was light outside already. All-in-all, good for citytrippers that just need to shower and sleep somewhere.
