Unfortunately, we didn't have such a good experience with the Southside Guesthouse. We booked this hotel based on the very good reviews and great pictures. We arrived late at the hotel and there was a mountain of rubble piled up in front of the house. This didn't bother us at first and since no one was there to greet us, we got the key through the door safe. This was a positive at first. The staircase was very beautiful and tastefully decorated. However, compared to the other reviews, it seems that we got a room with a niche on the first floor. The carpet was very dirty, the curtains tore the room apart, it was incredibly small, you could hardly turn around in the bathroom, the stucco was crumbling from the ceiling above the bed and the joints of the shower in the bathroom were moldy. And all this for more than €500 for 3 nights!!!! We immediately contacted the organizer and refused to stay in this room, they couldn't give us another one but offered us a free cancellation. But since it was already the middle of the night, we had to stay in this room and moved out immediately the next morning and moved into a great hotel for the same price (Hollyrood Apartment Hotel on the Royal Mile), where we will stay again in 2 months.
