In a town that revolves around outdoors sports like hiking and rafting, it’s nice to find the kind of hotel that is the opposite of “roughing it.” Not to say that the hotel doesn’t have rustic charm—-it has that South America meets the Alps feel—but everything here is of high quality and design. From the wood beams and floors, to the sitting room by the fireplace, everything exudes comfort. So nice after a day of over a dozen miles of hiking and climbing. We stayed over Christmas, and had a festive four course Christmas Eve dinner. The staff was ever helpful and especially delighted that we had such a lovely Christmas so far from home (Ohio). Some photos may suggest that the hotel is isolated and perched at the base of the mountains. It is solidly in town, sandwiched between other buildings on the block, but we had a little belt view of Mt Fitzroy out our bedroom window. Everything in town is in walking distance, and there are so many great places to eat and drink. A highlight of our Patagonia trip for sure!
