We had booked a room for 1 night Bed and Breakfast via the Best Western website. Arrived at hotel rather stressed as our SatNav kept sending us to a completely different location and eventually had to use Google Maps to get there. The hotel itself is very nice, pleasant room all very clean. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. We had dinner in the restaurant which was really lovely and the breakfast offering the next morning was excellent. However, when we came to check out, the receptionist handed me the card machine and told me how much she was going to charge me. I asked to see a print out of my bill, which seemed to cause her to have a bit of a huff. It is standard procedure in all hotels to show the guest their final account before asking for payment. The bill was eventually produced and I noticed that we had been charged for 2 breakfasts. I explained in French (I am fluent!) that our rate included breakfast but she said “computer says no”! I produced the booking confirmation email on my phone which clearly stated that we were on a B&B inclusive rate but she said she didn’t understand English and called a colleague who did. The second receptionist confirmed that the charge should be removed, but the first receptionist was reluctant to do so. It left me with a less than satisfactory feeling about this hotel and should be a warning to others who have booked on a B&B basis to make sure they check their bill.
