What I liked: 1. I found the staff in the restaurant excellent. They made sure I was accommodated based on my allergies at the included dinner provided by the tour. Even at breakfast, the staff were there to advise. This was impressive. 2. The breakfast was a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, and fruit. The only improvement is changing the orange juice since it tasted like Tang. This doesn’t make sense in a country with nice oranges. 3. Excellent location and pretty much across the street from the main churches with Fatima. What could be improved/didn’t like: 1. I had a very negative incident with front desk reception which was both disrespectful and unprofessional given my complaint was about a blood-coloured plasma stain on my bathroom wall. Since I started travelling post covid, I always wipe down and clean the hotel rooms with Lysol wipes. It makes me feel more secure. However, when we arrive in our room, we found a plasma like blood coloured stand on the side wall near the washroom faucet. I was not going to clean this by myself, since to me it looked like blood and the room should have been cleaned properly. I went to the front desk to report the issue. The front desk reception was very arrogant and dismissive. He gave me the impression that he thought I was making it up and just wanted to get rid of me. After insisting that it be cleaned, he agreed to send the Room Service Manager up to check. In the meantime, I went to dinner. When I returned from dinner, I saw the stain still on the wall. I assumed that no one came to check. I phoned reception and the front desk told me in an arrogant tone – “He didn’t see anything and there is no problem.” Honestly, I was livid. I couldn’t believe anyone could be so rude and dismissive. Fatima is a place people go for pilgrimages. I don’t see how this behaviour reflects the peace people seek in a pilgrimage. I told him I didn’t even know someone came in the room, since there was no note. I insisted that he come back, since I was now in the room. The Room Service Manger came, and I asked him to put on a mask. Then, we went into the washroom, and I showed him the stain. It was clear he didn’t see it from the last visit. He told me that he looked near the toilet. While he was cooperative and helpful, I was very annoyed. I said that I gave all the information to the front desk reception, and they neglected to pass on anything. He apologized and said he would send someone to clean it. Another lady came to clean the room and I also asked her to put on a mask. She cleaned up the stain in less than 5 mins and apologized that it was missed. I found her genuine. It is very unfortunate that a problem that should have taken 10 minutes to resolve took at least 30 minutes of my time on my vacation. I also didn’t appreciate being presumed a liar when the room was not cleaned properly. The Lysol wipes that I used to clean the room picked up dust and dirt. When I mentioned this prob

There is 1 elevator that is accessible to guests, therefore, check-in was easy, but getting to the room with everyone arriving on tour took 20+ minutes. The shower stall [no bath] was short of a square meter, therefore, beware if you are a bit more round than tall. I woke up with a migraine and needed nourishment to keep it at bay. My wife and I sat down with a very meager plate in a dining room that had been near empty and the manager proceeded to kick us out, because the night before, without any warning, the telephone rang in our room and we were not consulted, just TOLD that our reservation was now @ 8 am. No manners, just an order. The manager was rude and angry when he found us, and made us feel as if we had crossed some imaginary line! Last I looked, hotels are there to serve their customers; had the manager been just straight forward or [god forbid] polite, I would have explained the situation - no chance of that. Nowhere have I ever felt more uncomfortable with the meager service and the unsolicited changes. There are many, many hotels in Fatima, as during holier days, they could be booked solid with no tents to rent, but this was not high season. I would imagine that many devout catholics would dream of such accommodations upon arrival, but we were just looking for a one-night visit. If ever you are in Fatima, beware of hyper-vigilant staff who seem to feel that they are doing us a huge favour by accepting our money and allowing us to eat. Wouldn't go back were they to send me the airfare and invite us back.

This hotel was absolutely fabulous. The location was perfect for all the Fatima religious experiences we wanted to attend. Staff was exceptionally helpful and professional. As Americans we were kind of in the dark - they helped us to navigate our stay wonderfully. Rooms were so comfortable and modern. Breakfast was wonderful as well. Prices were great! We couldn't have had a better stay and highly recommend this wonderful hotel!!!

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Estrela de Fatima. The location of the hotel is PERFECT, just across from the sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima. The rooms were clean, very nice and the breakfast was lovely. The staff of the hotel were fabulous. Patricia was extremely helpful and caring. She was very understanding and accommodating in offering us a stay for the next day when we missed our flight. George was very cordial and gave insightful information about the Sanctuary. Vera and Rita were very helpful. THANKS Patricia, George, Vera and Rita for making our stay pleasant, for our family.

A hotel full of surprises, only about a 5-minute walk from the main church. The rooms are very new. We only stayed for one night and even received a welcome snack. There were not many decent restaurants nearby, so we chose to have dinner at the hotel. It was surprisingly delicious and there were many types of drinks. The breakfast is even more considerate. The food is delivered to the table and the service is impeccable.

In all my years of traveling, I have never been treated as poorly than by a waiter employed by this hotel. My friends and I were part of a religious pilgrimage and the trip included dinner at this hotel. During dinner on Nov. 7, 2023, there were no seats left in the innermost section of the restaurant where for whatever reason, this particular waiter wanted all patrons to sit. However, there were numerous tables and seats less than 10 feet away from this particular section. Since we cannot eat standing up, we asked to be seated in the available tables 10. This waiter was unbelievably rude and yelled “No, go with your tour group!” We explained to him there were no seats left. He glared at us and could not be reasoned with. Make a long story short, we had to WAIT until people were done eating or were asked to eat fast and get up, so we can sit down. We were also told in a very loud disrespectul voice, to just “separate and find a seat with other people”, meaning people we were not traveling with. At the end of the dinner, we quietly approached him and said to him we deserved better treatment than that. We spoke in a very low key voice. I guess, we were hoping he would apologize. We thought maybe he was just having a bad day and that ad the crowd thinned out, he would realize he was out of line and apologize. To our horror, he was as rude as ever and instead of apologizing, he raised his voice again and said “I am superman! You Americans are rude!!!!!” He then rolled his eyes, waived his arms even more, and yelled (literally yelled) more. This is the most shocking encounter we have had in all our years of travelling around the world with a waiter. And of all places, in Fatima. We want to believe this man has problems at home which made him behave so horribly, but management should then sit him down and educate him on the proper way to conduct himself in a place as precious and sacred as Fatima.

I thought it was, despite the high price, a real convent, but instead it is a real hotel, rather dated, housed in a former convent in the center of Fatima. Convenient free parking, we did not use other services. When we arrived our room had been given to someone else, so we were assigned a family room, consisting of a room with 3 beds, a sitting room and a large bathroom. Furnishings and fittings could do with updating, but all areas were clean. We were passing through, in mid-August everything was full and for one night it went well, but I think there is better in the area

Outstanding
GGuest UserThe Charming Luz houses offer an experience you wont soon forget ! A tranquil village with separate guest houses modeling the vibe & architecture of days gone by in Fatima ... The mother house is where the meals are served in a ”homey” atmosphere and a lovely living room to relax , read or play games. A beautiful area awaits outside for relaxation & swimming too.
GGuest UserMy stay at the Cova de Iria Hotel in Fátima was fantastic. I booked a family room and it was very spacious, immaculately clean, the beds are confortable, the showers are the best Ive come across and the hot water comes out fast! The breakfast has a great variaty and the staff were genuinely friendly! The location is very central to walk around with my kids and had no problem parking my car. The valeu for money is very good and I will not bother looking for another place next time I go back to Fátima.
Certamente recomendarei a amigos e família!
The hotel has a nice lobby with plenty of couches for seating. The front desk receptionist was nice and efficient and spoke English. The room itself was large with plenty of space. The bathroom was a good size with a good amount of counter space. There was an enclosed shower. The room and bathroom were clean - almost like new. We were traveling with a group and so ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here. All were buffets and were pretty good. For vegetarians, there was a salad bar, soup, potatoes and usually some other vegetables. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Fatima Sanctuary with gift shops selling religious articles along the way. In fact we could see the top of the Bascilica from our hotel room. This is a great place to stay while visiting Fatima.
GGuest UserAbsolutely loved staying at this hotel! Efficient, polite and helpful staff. Nice lobby area. Simply-furnished but clean and comfortable rooms that reflected the theme of pilgrimage in this town. I love the fact that they have a crucifix in every room! Everything worked well in the room and the beds were very comfortable! We had a room with a stunning view of the grounds and the sanctuary. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, far from the noisy pilgrims who, unfortunately, very frequently forget that this is a pilgrimage town! There was ample free public parking on the road outside the hotel and a hotel-owned private parking area just across the road. Walking through the hotel’s grounds and the picnic area of the sanctuary will lead you to the back part of the Basilica of the Rosary. It’s a short, pleasant walk - around 5 minutes. There are coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The buffet breakfast was standard continental fare. Nothing fanciful but plentiful. No hot dishes. Fresh fruits like apples, oranges and bananas were available. It was self-service which, to me, wasn’t ideal during this pandemic. The staff should be the ones serving the food to avoid many different hands handling the serving tongs/ladles. In addition, every time clients want more food, the food should be served on a clean, new plate. This is just to avoid the serving tongs/ladles from coming into contact with soiled plates and then being returned to the clean food dish. It prevents food contamination. A few other hotels in Fátima actually practise this at their buffets which is really a very hygienic practice! The restaurant area was large and tables well spaced-out. The hotel also provides half board and full board. Apart from breakfast, we didn’t have any other meal there so cannot comment on the quality of the food. We did, however, notice many Portuguese come for meals at the restaurant. Lunch or dinner costs €11/person. The best part of this hotel was the on-site beautiful chapel with the presence of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament! Masses are said here every morning (7.45 a.m. on weekdays). It was such a bonus for us - to be able to start the day with Mass! Beautiful! The Masses are said in Portuguese and the ambience is so serene and spiritual with the community (priests, nuns and lay religious) present there that you feel at peace and one with God. In sum, this hotel is a good candidate for those wanting to conduct their own private retreat. It has a quiet, spiritual ambience and is very good value for money as breakfast is included in the room rate. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you are looking for a peaceful stay. Excellent quality/price ratio!
GGuest UserClean and neat hotel. Good place to rest and away from the hustle and rush of city. Superb breakfast spread. Great staff service. Reasonably priced. Can attend Mass daily as it just next to church. Near to a lot of eateries like gelato and yummy Pizza place ” PizzaMia” - hot and fresh pizza.
GGuest UserIt was finally an option to rest one night before going on. It is a pity that some of the staff believed they had reason about the clients and that it was the customer's fault that the room had no coat or edredom available in the room and had to go to the reception. In January it is normal to get cold and the rooms have conditions and especially sticks /edredom available, isn't it?
GGuest UserSpent 5 days at this hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. The hotel itself was tidy and fresh and our room was cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious and freshly served and was included as part of the package. The hotel is around a 10 to 15 minute walk from Our Lady of Fatima Sanctuary and only 5 minutes from the start of the Way of Cross. ALDI and other convenience stores are also nearby. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you plan to visit the sites of Fatima!
GGuest UserThe hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. The room was very comfortable in the second floor, with views of the city, with very good cleaning in the sofas, covers and towels, and very well heated. The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable. Plastic gardens are attached and cannot move so the water comes out of the bathroom and enters the room and wets everything. I doubtless or recommend on my next trip to Fatima would come back. Thank you very much!
