I booked the hotel very spontaneously late in the evening. The reception was already closed when I called, but the manager came by in person within less than 10 minutes. I felt guilty because I didn't know it was his cell phone number and I called so late when he was already at home. But he was really friendly and humorous. We had booked one of the modern rooms, which were spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and really very spacious. The facilities were top notch, even a diffuser for the hairdryer for curly hair, which not many hotels offer. The sea with clear water was directly across the street, the location was great, just a stone's throw from downtown Chania, and you could park right in front of the hotel. Highly recommended!

The best thing about this hotel is the staff who are very friendly and hard working. Nothing is too much effort for them. The owner and his wife Maria are particularly accommodating. We were delayed on the way out and arrived after midnight, yet he still greeted us and showed us to our room. We were also able to get a late night drink at the pool bar although they were on the point of closing. The room had plenty of space, a comfy bed and a fridge which was very important for keeping water cold. All of this was cleaned immaculately every day. My only complaints would be that the bathroom was tiny, especially the shower and there was an extra charge of 9 euros a day for the air-con. The outdoor facilities are very good and the breakfasts excellent, usually too much for me. The Greek night was especially enjoyable as we were able to get up and participate in the dancing. Food wise, special mention needs to be made of the fresh fruit and salad provided in abundance and also the olive oil which was delicious.

We loved our stay at Porto Kalamaki Hotel. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the room was cleaned/linen changed every day except Sunday, which was wonderful. There is a fantastic restaurant and pool bar. The staff without exception were lovely, warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed some great entertainment in the evenings, especially the traditional greek night with live music. There is a lovely little harbour, with a pretty chapel at the end across the road where we would take a swim in the afternoons. There is also an excellent bus service, which regularly goes to Chania from just a short way along the road - tickets can be bought in the mini market at the hotel and are cheaper than paying on the bus. We would highly recommend a stay at Porto Kalamaki hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Perfect Vacation! My first time in Greece but definitely not the last one. Together with my parents we spent 7 wonderful days. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. Even though I am living on Dubai for the past 10 years and let’s say I am used with a high standard of accommodation and service, this place was top. Very modern rooms, extremely clean place, very delicious food, amazing views, there is a shop right next to the hotel and few beaches nearby and the most important factor that made our stay so memorable are the people!! They are just soooo kind and hospitable! From the moment I arrived, Georgia gave me a warm welcome and I had a very smooth check in. Throughout our stay Iro gave us the best suggestions where to eat, what to visit and helped us to book everything; like she was our personal concierge even though this is not her job, so blessed that we have met her. Every morning we got served breakfast by the lovely Ana and Maria, so accommodating and kind. In the evening, John and Stelios served us delicious food and amazing cocktails. Nonetheless, Mr. Andreas is one of the kindest and hard working person I met! And the one who cleaned our room daily, Efi, took care of the smallest details which made our stay more comfortable. Both myself and my parents felt like we are part of the family and were very sad to leave this place but for sure we will be back! Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

All rooms overlook the pool area which is beautifully lit up at night. the rooms are very spacious with cooker hobs with fridge and kettle if want to do self catering. There is a lovely restaurant on site and a bar at the pool which serves all day and evenings. The staff could not be any nicer ranging from bar staff, room service ladies to the owners. We attended a few entertainment evenings which were very fun including traditional greek night with live music. Location right opposite the harbour with walking distance of the town for other restaurants in either direction. Good bus service to take you into Chania as well. Was also refreshing that it was not all British people staying here but a variety of nationalities mostly Swedish when we were there. Thoroughly recommend.

Just returned from 10 days at the Porto Kalamaki Hotel Chania Crete. Fantastic hotel, all staff extremely friendly and helpful, rooms cleaned spotless, regular linen and towel change, restaurant serves excellent food as good as we had in the old town. Mini market at the hotel is very well stocked and open until 11.30 at night. Live music and Greek nights both very good and well attended. Pool lovely and clean and enough sun loungers for everyone, cocktails delicious and only €5 at happy hour. Bus stop very close to take you to beaches or Chania. Very importantly- a very comfy bed! Would definitely stay again. 100% recommend!

Just heard from someone who has been in Crete from 1986 for extended periods of time and now in Crete for 9 months of the year.. "The best lamb chops so far...in Porto Kalamaki!" You cannot go wrong with this hotel. Everything is top class. Warmly recommended!

We had a lovely week at Porto Kalamaki. The rooms are basic, but beautifully clean with a comfy bed. We had a balcony that overlooked the pool and out to sea. We were on self catering. We did our own breakfasts but had one lovely meal at the hotel. We liked to eat around as there lots of super restaurants/ tavernas in Kalamaki. The staff at the hotel were great , reception sorting out car hire and trips for us. On our leaving day we weren’t due to be picked up until 19.15 and they let us keep our room all day at no extra charge. There is a busy road in front of the hotel, but directly across the road is a picturesque little harbour. We like walking and loved the walk to Chania, which takes about an hour, passing three great swimming beaches with beach bars and sun loungers. There is a bus stop outside the hotel with regular buses into Chania for those who don’t like waking.
