Best Hotels near Kai Club, Gran Canaria

Let's start with the good things - the communication with the hotel even before arrival was relatively good, they responded to our inquiries regarding the room location request, but of course they kept giving an answer that they did not commit, but when we arrived, they made a note and gave us the location we wanted (in retrospect, we did not choose well - details below). There are many sun beds around the pool, the room is spacious and the location of the hotel is excellent. Now for the things that disappointed us - we asked for a room in the center facing the pool because of the view but we found that during the whole day there is a very, very strong sun on the balcony to such an extent that it is not possible to sit there all day, it's a shame they didn't put a beach umbrella or a pergola. There was no microwave in our room even though it was supposed to be (we didn't even bother to ask), during the first three days there were massive renovations in the hotel. At first the reception representative told us that it was something specific but it really wasn't, we saw that they had put scaffolding in the rooms next to it to renovate the balconies and also on the roof there was a large team working noisily with a drill and at the same time trucks arrived and unloaded sand into the garden. All this when the hotel was fully booked in one of the most requested weeks of the year. At the entrance to our room there were glasses from the room next door that were probably pushed out for the cleaner to take but they stayed there for 4 whole days. Even though we locked the room, the cleaner entered the room (locking it from the inside has no meaning...). One day the power went out in the gym and none of the hotel staff noticed at all (I went to the reception to inform them) and the hardest thing of all - at breakfast which is in the open bar by the pool there are a lot of pigeons that come and sit on the tables and the bar and the food stalls. Most of the food is enclosed in glass installations, but the surface of the bread and the heater and the drinks and the jams and many other things are exposed to the pigeons that come and sit on them and none of the staff does anything about it. Today there are many solutions for imitating ions even using electronic sound devices. Beyond the fact that it was disgusting, it is simply dangerous, a pigeon sitting on a surface of bread is diseases. Another thing, there is a nice bar by the pool but there is only one bartender/waiter so the waiting time to get a drink is around 25 minutes and the service is not very welcoming either. There are two large and beautiful pools but the water is really cold (it's a shame they don't heat it) and it will be really difficult for smokers. There are no smoking areas at all in the entire hotel except for standing in the strong sun next to a bin in the corner of the pool and restaurant area, unable to sit down and unable to put down a drink. I am currently staying in the don Miguel and what an amazing hotel and experience we’ve had, the rooms are perfect very modern and spacious when looking at other reviews they do sound like they have never been here before couldn’t have any complaints about the room if I tried, me and my girlfriend are here I’m 19 and she’s 18 and we found this a great hotel for young couples and pretty much everyone as there is a really great mix of ages and nationalities, it is a very diverse hotel which feels very welcoming to everyone, the service is amazing the staff couldn’t do more if they tried, the food was good it does have a variety in the night for people like me who is very adventurous with my eating and the basics depending on what you like, we only stayed for a week but I could see if you stayed longer and ate in every night you would maybe get a little bored as the selection is a decent size but I would highly recommend eating out ( papis grill and the hardrock cafe are amazing, also the tipsy hammock!) the facilities are amazing here and easily earns its 4 star status really hard to find a fault in this place, will definitely be returning

Cleanliness is everything and it’s here in abundance! The staff are amazing and a special shout out to Santa and joel at the bar. Yurena, Vanessa on reception are fabulous nothing too much trouble. The rooms are cleaned daily To A very high standard. All in all a magnificent place with maybe a few tweaks needed. No where to dry costumes and towels a little rail Would be amazing or a collapsing airer would look so much better than clothes laid over tables on every veranda, perhaps more aesthetically pleasing to the eye! The restaurant keeps very odd hours and you can’t rely on in being open but the pool bar does do the very basics and they’re quite ok. So peaceful and serene with a very boutique feel.

The hotel is situated centrally at the top of Gran Canaria and as such has staggering beautiful panoramas from both its rooms and public areas. It is in a unique and unforgettable position close to a large number of well sign posted walks (most will need either a car or taxi to access) The hotel has been recently renovated and modernised to a high standard. Our superior room was in the original building, was spotlessly clean, well furnished and quiet. The view from its very large balcony was stunning) Be prepared for rapid weather variations as cloud blows in and out, temperatures can drop dramatically and it can be both sunny and hot and foggy and cold on the same day! Service in the restaurant can be erratic although the food quality is very good. The Spa is quite basic and, we felt, somewhat over priced. This hotel is ‘an experience’ and amongst the most memorable, for good reasons, we have ever stayed in.

The beds were very uncomfortable or I would of returned to the hotel the beds moved on wheels and were very squeaky even if moved slightly , I did mention but they didn’t seem bothered , also the family pool bar staff never acknowledged you standing there just ignored you whilst putting out glasses we were all inclusive and hardly had any drinks the children’s entertainment staff were excellent but not much in kids club going on location was ok needed a bus though

Getting off the Club Med 2 ship I walked with my luggage to your beautiful hotel, KA-POW! My room had views of the docks, the restaurant on the 23rd floor had incredible views and impeccable service. The swimming pool on the 25th floor was nice, just right for a little dip. Thank you Elizabeth who checked me in, I walked in stressed and left refreshed and happy. Your English is excellent and your kindness was much appreciated. A good haircut helped too, there are many salons and massage places in walking distance. I enjoyed sitting at a few sidewalk cafes, walking around and window shopping. The beach was a an eight minute walk and the dock was a three minute walk. Thank you to Manuel who checked me out and helped me with my luggage. I highly recommend this hotel.
