DoubleTree by Hilton Greensboro

The hotel lobby is lovely with high ceilings, that’s about the only good here. Elevators were dirty and sketchy, at best. The bed was the most uncomfortable accommodation I have ever slept on. I have a back ache from the crappy mattress. The breakfast buffet is $12! But when we came down at 9am (it closes at 10) the food was nearly gone and what remained did not look appeasing. The pool area has like five chairs for parents and we had to ask for pool towels 3x before anyone brought any down. The pool had maybe 16 kids and they brought ten towels. This place is a waste or money.

Grandover Resort & Spa, a Wyndham Grand Hotel

After check-in, the front desk gave two in room dinner cash coupons, 25 US dollars. You can use the deduction directly. Convenient. There is a gallery downstairs. If you are interested in art, you can go for a stroll.
Marriott Greensboro Downtown

Downtown
Looks like Marriott used the pandemic to renovate and modernize the rooms. The furnishings look new with a somewhat modern flair. The room configurations though are easily recognizable for those who've stayed in Marriott properties before. On the plus side, the hotel is in a good location, basically at the northern edge of the downtown core area. It is across the street from the performing arts center so is a convenient spot to spend the night without requiring any driving, parking, etc. There are many restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. The hotel has a nice bar/lounge area that gets some traffic in the evenings. The rooms feel fresh and new although they are limited by the pre-existing room configurations and ceiling height. Despite its location, that section of town is actually fairly quiet outside of events at the art center. One can do many pleasant walks to nearby parks, the nearby culture museum or to simply view the older building architecture in downtown Greensboro. On the negative side, only complaint was that their pool remains closed (going on two years now?) Given the warm weather we had while there, it would have been nice had it been open!
