The service at the front desk was enthusiastic and first-class. The dinner I ordered was very appetizing. Although the facilities were a bit old, they were very clean. Although the bed was large, it was a bit collapsed. The space was not too small. There were large wooden corners outside the room box that made it easy to bump into.

Friends who have stayed in youth hostels will find it very comfortable. The double bed is quite large and the single cubicle is also very comfortable. I slept well. You can eat and there is a small bar downstairs. The owner is very nice and highly recommended. It's not far from Hakone Yumoto Station, but there is a steep slope when going up, which may be a bit difficult for those with larger suitcases.

I had a reservation for a double bed in a capsule, and I was wondering what it meant, but I was surprised to find such a large space. The capsule was spacious and very comfortable. The entrance was also closed with a sliding door, and it was a private space like a private room. . There was enough space to put our luggage inside the capsule, but the separate lockers were also large enough to fit suitcases, which I have never seen before. Before the new corona, there were many foreign customers, so it may have been natural for luggage to be large. It's a little troublesome to put sheets on the double bed size futon by yourself, but it wasn't a pain when I thought about the comfort when I lay down afterwards. The communal kitchen is like a normal house, and you can cook your own meals with all the tableware, but I was told that it starts at 8:00 in the morning, so I was sorry that I could only use it for dinner because I had to leave early in the morning. It was nice to have a wide variety of instant drinks that you can drink freely. The check-in counter also serves as a bar counter, and I got a free drink ticket at check-in, so I got a cassis orange later. As an inn in Hakone, it may be a bottleneck that there is no hot spring, but I heard that a nearby day-trip hot spring facility can be used at a discount of 500 yen. It may have been mainly foreigners before, but I think it's a comfortable inn with good cost performance that Japanese people can be satisfied with, so I think it's perfect for people who want to stay cheaply in Hakone Yumoto.

Only 12min of walking (according to Google Map) from Hakone-Yumoto station, but turned out to be the hardest walk due to the incline for the last 5min of it. I don't want to exaggerate, but it felt like at least a 25 degrees angle and when you're dragging luggage up, you're going to need to take multiple breathers on that narrow road. If the taxi price is reasonable, I'd recommend taking the taxi from the station. The other review mentions a bus that goes to Azito Guesthouse, but we didn't know we needed it. Compared to this steep hill, getting our luggage up a narrow steep flight of stairs to our 3rd floor apartment was pretty easy; the friendly receptionist helped with 1 of our bags. The apartment itself was quite nice and spacious, with a kitchenette and balcony. There was no TV and we found the mattress a bit too soft. There was not enough room in the bathroom to hang old and new clothes at the same time. This apartment's nightly cost was about the same as our Kyoto hotel.

I stayed at Azito for 2 nights in mid-November. The location is good and the price was cheap (3500 yen or 24€ per night at the time). The people at the reception were very nice and took the time to answer all my questions. The English of the Japanese here was some of the best I've experienced in Japan. The rooms themselves are, as mentioned, wooden boxes in a trapezoid shape. The box contains a double bed mattress that was very soft, 4 pillows and a thick blanket. There was also a power socket (with 2 USB-A outlets) and 2 coat hangers, 1 light switch and 1 ventilation switch. More than enough for one person. Too far away, of course, it gets cozy. Overall, however, there was significantly more space than in other Japanese hostels. The locker was in the anteroom and was also very spacious. 2 hand luggage suitcases and backpacks fit in here. The showers and toilets were clean and in order. You can borrow a towel at the reception (100 yen), and you get a towel (for your hands) for free. The WiFi was also fine and I had no problems during my stay. You could buy breakfast at the FamilyMart around the corner. I didn't cook either, so I can't say anything about the kitchen. I didn't try the bar itself. I also found the prices a bit expensive; you could find something better in the village. Maybe they give guests a free drink or a coupon, then it would be better attended ;) The only negative thing was that the wooden box was a bit thin on sound, or I had a very loud snoring room neighbor. P.S. The last 200 meters are a bit steep; if you have a suitcase you should probably take the bus to the hostel.

Even though it is a hostel, the bed was double size and when the door was closed, it became a completely private space and it was very comfortable. The explanation of the front desk was also polite and comfortable. I think it is a valuable presence in Hakone Yumoto, where there are many high-priced accommodations.

It felt like a share house when I used it for the first time. I was a little surprised that the room key was a padlock. For people who are not shy, I think it would be fun to be able to have a conversation with the parent-child generation.
