Hi Jamie I felt it best to write to you directly as to our recent disappointing stay at the Halifax Homewood Suites. We have been coming to Halifax and staying at your hotel for many years and always found it to be among one of the best which is particularly one of the reasons for our disappointing stay. Admittedly Covid has made our routine Halifax visits for work and social events non existent in the past two years. Recently we had a booking at your hotel and were called the day of our stay that our room was not available due to a mechanical issue. This happens and we understood. In fact we were quite happy with the alternate location that you provided us at your sister property. So we made a second reservation for this past Saturday night staying until the following day. We arrived for check in at 3:15 and were told our room was not available as cleaning staff had not been able to get to our room yet. We were unable to get an estimate as to when it would be completed. We were accompanying friends who also had booking issues but were able to get their room after some confusion. We decided to go with them until our room was ready so I asked the front desk to call us there when it was ready. I was told they were cleaning our room, which was 503 shortly and we would be called. Approximately 1 hour later we were called that our room was now ready. This was inconvenient but understandable. We collected the keys in a sleeve and again were told room 503 was ready. Proceeding to that room we found the door open and cleaning staff still inside. I questioned this and was told they were doing VIP clean inspection. She asked us to come in and departed. We unpacked our belongings, used the facilities and my wife began to touch up her hair and makeup for our 530 reservation. I took the opportunity to unload the dishwasher and then went down the hallway to get ice. When I returned my key didn't work so I knocked to get in. We had two keys so I picked up the second one to try it. At that point I realized she had written room 403 on the sleeve. I phoned down to the front desk to clarify the error and no one answered. We realized we had been sent to the wrong room so we packed up our belongings and went down to 403. The keys worked so we appreciated the error. I again called attempted calling the front desk but the phone did not work. The safe also did not work. The internet did not work. We went back to our friends room as we were now late for our reservation. I called the front desk from their room and notified them of the events and failings. She told me she could give me keys to room 503 but I explained we had moved down to to 403 as per the writing on the sleeve. Our friends called and cancelled our reservations as we were now late. Upon returning that evening I again called the front desk in regards to the phone, internet and safe issues. They told me they made a note without solution. We have had such great experiences with your hotel in the pa

Our third stop on our tour of the maritimes was the Hotel Halifax. It had a great location close to the pier and it was connected to the indoor walkway that connected to the mall, the ******, and other hotels and businesses downtown. This was very convenient on the day it rained during our stay! The rooms were very spacious and had very comfortable beds. No issues with hot water, air conditioning or internet. An unexpected bonus was having a water refill machine on each floor to fill up reusable water bottles. There was no breakfast included but the hotel was connected to the indoor food court at the mall and there were lots of restaurants nearby. At the hotel you can pay for parking at the indoor parking garage connected to the hotel, and it allowed in and out privileges. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommended to anyone wanting to stay in the waterfront area!

I used to have the experience of booking an overseas hotel when I said there was no order and communicated many times before finding the order. I was quite worried before I checked in this time, but it turned out that the check-in went smoothly, and I will still book hotels with Ctrip in the future.

Our trip from the moment we arrived was perfect. I’ve never seen a whole hotel’s staff so friendly! The room is beautifully done, we had an amazing view of Citadel Hill, very comfy bed, in-room Nespresso, plush towels - an absolute treat. We had a fantastic meal at Chopped too. We loved it so much we’ve cancelled our upcoming reservation at a nearby hotel for March Break and are returning to the Sutton Place.

Positives: - Convenient location to the Halifax Citadel and the harbor, 2-3 blocks each way. - Good hot water - The room itself is old with limited electrical outlet, but the hotel installed extension cords and additional electrical outlet bases on the nightstand and on the desk to make charging easy and convenient. - The room was also dark due to its original design and age of the building, but the hotel brought in more lights and evenly spread-out the room to ensure no dark area/spot, which I appreciate. Negatives: - Hairs found on top of toilet and floors of the bathroom, lots of short hairs, disgusting - Watermarks on the coffee table and nightstand - Many pin holes on the walls and wall papers - When raising the dirty bathroom issues to the hotel, they sent an inexperienced person, Jared, over to help but the issues did not get resolved and made false accusations about me being rude to him when I was speaking at my normal voice and sharing cleanliness issues. - Toilet dripping all night - Booked for VIP package but did not get VIP service in both room quality and condition as well as staff attitude (particular from Jared) other than waiving the self-parking fee. - When speaking with the hotel manager about the issues after Jared's inability to solve it, the hotel manager plain outright told me over the phone that he did not care how I felt and was not willing to help solve the situation, and sided with his employee, Jared, who had negative attitude and accused me of being rude to his employees. And deflating the real issues, which is disgusting and unclean floors with many hairs. And made suggestions on using towels to ”cover up” all unclean hairs and dirty floors in the bathroom. - The hotel did not own up its own responsibility when dropping the ball on cleanliness and got defensive, worse yet, turned around falsely blaming me for being rude and treating hotel employees badly when it's them who started negative attitudes. Other: - Check in staff, Stella, was efficient but came across as impatient because she kept on cutting me off before I finished speaking. - Olga, the second check-in staff, was more cordial - There is no valet parking. The closet self-parking is across the street, no parking right underneath. In other words, if you sign up self-parking with the hotel, they will send you to a large parking garage across the street, and the hotel will provide you with an instruction slip on how to find it and find your way back to the hotel lobby. The parking garage entrance is on Albemarle St. If you follow hotel's instruction slip carefully, you should find your way back without issues. Always remember where you park. Or just ask people around. The walk from where you park to the hotel lobby is at least 10 minutes assuming you don't get lost. You would cross a big indoor food court and a walkway and escalates before getting back to the hotel lobby. The hotel shares parking structure with Hotel Halifax across the street. - No breakf

We have stayed in many Residence Inn but this one is below par. The building is a little run down and seems a bit neglected. Staff seems disinterested. First morning the complimentary breakfast was a joke. At least 25 people lined up, all the food containers empty, when a staff member came to “refill” the food, he came with about 7 bacon slices and 8 hashbrowns, By the third guest in line it was all empty again. Also no forks to eat with - just knives and spoons. The housekeeping was even worse than the breakfast. The first day they didn’t come at all. The second day, they came but only made one of the two beds in the room (never seen that before!). No sweeping or vacuuming, no wiping bathroom counters, just made one of the two beds…very bizarre. The beds were very noisy (squeaky) and bouncy and the outside noise from the street made it hard to sleep. This Residence Inn unfortunately does a bit of damage to the brand.

The location is on the edge of the port, and there is a COWS ice cream shop 10 meters from the east gate.
The clerk is professional. Breakfast is not included, it is a la carte system, but the price is actually acceptable between 17-24 Canadian dollars.
The facilities include a swimming pool and a gym. The gym is very large. In the swimming pool, the old white man and the old lady are doing extravagant things, which is also drunk.
The last hour of the swimming pool is adult only time, but there are still children in it after the time has passed. The security staff helped clean up in time. very good.

The setting on the harbor, architecture and comfort in the room is a 10. The restaurant Drift also harbor side with a premier view of the promenade. Never a dull moment. I even got a selfie when the Prime Minister Trudeau paid a visit to the chocolatier next door. The Comfortable contemporary design and friendly staff are dedicated to your experience. The food is fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The breakfast menu has it all. Perfectly prepared poached eggs and crispy bacon. So you are wondering, why I didn’t I give the hotel 5 stars? The front desk staff, completely useless. They must have a huge staff turnover. Weeks of inquiry by myself and travel agent got us nowhere on local activities and bookings. In particular spa treatments. The spa in the same building is a treat, but the front desk staff can barely tell you where it is. I had to find my own around the hotel. I don’t think the staff have ever left the first floor. There is an impressive work out room. Pool with a cold plunge, somewhere in the building a mysterious speakeasy When I inquired, it was closed and no explanation. FYI, the courtesy car is only available until 9:15. I called at 9:20 and service was done for the day. You would think they would they might mention that as well. Enjoy the MUIR, just remember it is DYI

From the first moment on arriving, we were disappointed. There is space for 2 cars to park for check in in front of the hotel. Then $25 a night for parking across the street in an unsecured lot. Who pays $300 a night to drag their luggage across a street? The website clearly states a restaurant, otherwise I would never have booked here.. . it is my main criteria for booking, When I asked I was told it closed a year ago, then why is it still on the website? My irritation was ignored by the desk. The room was so cold, we cranked the heat up to 31C and the fan continued to blow cold air. When I called I was told to turn it off and they would bring up portable heaters. No, come and fix it. The technician came promptly and basically said the system was not working but he could turn off the cold air but could not fix the heat valve as ”his boss hadn't shown him how”. He would bring a portable heater. BTW I heard other guests complaining at breakfast about the cold. I would have cancelled my next night booking but that meant not having a room between noon and 4 PM, not exactly the point of staying two nights. The one, and only one, redeeming factor was the breakfast complimentary for us as gold Hilton Honors, otherwise $14 and $18. Our server was also very pleasant. Check out - the clerk was so unfriendly and dour, not even asking if we enjoyed our stay. This trip has undermined my faith in Hilton, as we have not had a good stay this year, and we have spend 10 nights in Hiltons.

GGuest UserWell, I stayed at the Holiday Inn on John Savage for the week of March Break for Business travel. Frankly, I do not know how the staff maintained the premises so well. Sure with the place loaded with kids, there was a little child having fun noise but nothing that kept me from sleeping well, or a distraction from my work. Kudos to the Hotel team for dealing with the ”onslaught” on families so well.....remarkable job under extreme circumstances....(JOAN!!!!!) Funny, even during the amazingly hectic times, Joan and her team had left me a lovely note and welcoming treat. As a business traveler who stays in LOTS and LOTS of hotels...it really means a lot when you can come ”home” at night to a welcoming friendly and professional family. I can't applaud the team and amazing leadership at Holiday Inn on John Savage enough. As for me, and because of the awesome teamwork at Holiday Inn on John Savage, our Company (over 200 employees in 4 eastern Provinces) have selected Holiday Inn as our preferred ”away from home family”. I just left Holiday Inn Dieppe where we now hold all our manager's meetings and all managers stay there for the days of the meetings. It was all because of Michelle's and Joan's wonderful leadership and excellent customer service over the years I have been coming. Finally, on my way home, I had to overnight in Dartmouth due to flight restrictions just last night. Did I stay out by the Airport which was WAY more convenient? NO. I stayed with my family away from home in Dartmouth who, though I was only staying one quick night, still remembered me! Always with a note and a treat. Amazing customer service. So, Michelle, Joan, and the team..... thank You for making my business travels such a pleasant experience. Finally, for a business traveler who stays in many hotels all over Canada and primarily in Eastern Canada.....there are certainly lessons in customer service that can be gleaned from the John Savage Team........... I'll see you folks again soon! Thank-You so much!
GGuest UserWe flew in late Sept 2022 for one night. It was about 12-18 hours after Hurricane Fiona had blasted through. The area was beaten up however power was on atvthe Hilday Inn. They had displaced locals living there due to personal damage. While the hotel was quite busy and looked well used, our room was ready and acceptable, in the circumstances. The carport was damp from a A/C leak. Front desk informed and subsequently maintenance. While it was fixed during our stay, I have no doubt it would have been. Free breakfast was fine. Simple but good enough to get you going in the morning. This is aour second stay in 6 years and what stands out the most on both trips are the drivers for thr Airport shuttle. They are kind, chatty and fun. They are a credit to the hotel chains who employ them. Great way to start your stay in a foreign place. Thanks everyone. Keep it up. Regards Steve
GGuest UserWe stayed at the Cambridge Suites July 31 to Aug 6th, 2022! We drove down from Toronto to spend our first week of vacation in Halifax at this lovely hotel. The staff were absolutely amazing and very accommodating! We had a large Dodge Ram truck which would not fit in the underground parking, I had advised them of this a month prior via email and when we arrived at the hotel they had a reserved spot out front for our vehicle. The King Suite was beautiful with a view of the harbour, private bedroom, huge bathroom and living room with desk and bar area. The breakfast buffet was very good however during our entire stay they never had any breakfast meat (bacon, ham or sausages) they only had eggs and homefries and or pancakes. BUT they had many choices of bread, muffins, fruit, yogurt.....we were never hungry! After a really long day of sightseeing we decided to eat in the restaurant in the evening and the meal was quite enjoyable! They also have a Laundry facility in the Parking Garage. It was a hot, humid week and we were heading to PEI for our second week and didn't want to travel with additional laundy so I decided to use the facilities. They will make change for you at the front desk and provided free dryer sheets and laundry pods. Again awesome service! We enjoyed this hotel so much that we are actually heading back in August 2023. We decided to just book a regular room since we were sightseeing so much we only really used it to sleep in! We just can't get enough of Halifax's charms and this hotel is the perfect home base when you visit this beautiful city!
GGuest UserWould rate the front desk staff a 8 out of 10 due to the lack of concern about one of the staff. Housekeeping very friendly and helpful and cleaned up when we only ask that our garbage been taken out. Room was very comfortable When the phone wasn't working one of the young front desk staff came up and took immediate charge and fixed the problem. We were looking forward to using the ”hot tub” but who ever is responsible for the hotel's web site should delete the hot tub picture s it hasn't been there, per front desk staff, at least 10 years. The fitness room only has 2 out of 4 of the stationary and Eliptical bike working. Gave up after mentioning it to the front desk staff on two occasions. Had a nice washroom with safety bars, but would suggest bringing a safety mat and there were no safety *****s in the tub. Surprisingly I found out the hotel did not have a liquor licemce so I had to go to another hotel for some ”brown pops' on New Year's eve.

You would cross a big indoor food court and a walkway and escalates before getting back to the hotel lobby. The hotel shares parking structure with Hotel Halifax across the street. - No breakf
GGuest UserOur third stop on our tour of the maritimes was the Hotel Halifax.
GGuest UserHi Jamie I felt it best to write to you directly as to our recent disappointing stay at the Halifax Homewood Suites.
GGuest UserConvenient stay near the airport. The shuttle to and from the airport leaves every 30 minutes all night long and the hotel is located about a 10 minute drive from the airport. The bed and pillow is super comfortable, good IPA, tasty food, and amazing staff. Breakfast is from 6-11 and is really nice.
It is what it is. A tiny little room for cheap. Parking is on the street. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep, then wake up and leave, then it isn’t bad. Staff was friendly and helpful. By no means fancy but a cheap bed for the night. Probably not for light sleepers as you can hear everything out in the hall.
