About what you'd expect for a lower end hotel, but beware - it's nowhere near the expectations of the high quality reviews shown here, which is why we booked this particular one. The service was by far the worst I've ever experienced at a hotel. I've stayed at hotels half the price of this one in Harrisonburg and gotten significantly better service. We arrived late at night after most guest have already checked in. No one was at the front counter when we walked in - a little odd since nothing would be taking place that late, but okay, maybe they're in the back for a minute or doing a nightly check. We waited a bit, no one showed up. Keep in mind there's no bell or notification service. I try calling the hotel, which rang and rang to the front lobby phone with no answer. We knocked on the staff door, still no answer. We walked around the halls and still didn't see anyone. 2 more phone calls, still no answer. We ended up waiting 20+ minutes just to see a staff member, the only way to get their attention was to bang on the door with my fists to which they came stumbling out. I don't know if they were sleeping or what, but it was ridiculous that calling and knocking multiple times no one answered when nothing was going on. If a guest needed to call the front desk, good luck, they're not answering you. When we finally got checked in, we went to the room. A major topic of reviews was good ”cleanliness” - it was anything but. Hair covered the shower, toilet, towels, and sink, and a mystery substance was on the bottom of the shower. The room had a weird odor to it, and the fan of the A/C was loud and rattled. Look, I know this is a one-off experience, and you pay for what you get, but $150 should go further for a hotel than the complete lackluster service and profound uncleanliness experienced here. I see this isn't the first bad review in regards to service at the front desk. Management, take notice. Patrons, avoid at all costs.
