We came back for a second time to this campsite as it ticks so many of the right boxes. In terms of location, it is a walk to Waitangi Treaty Grounds and a short drive to Pahia, where you can catch a ferry to Russel…and to top it all off you are camped opposite Haruru Falls. One of the many positive aspects of this very special campsite was that the kayaks are free to use and allows you to have a more close and personal view of the waterfall. The facilities here are clean and well-maintained and showers were hot with great water pressure. The campsite also felt safe due to codes being on the bathroom/toilet doors. The owner of the campsite, Michael, made us feel like we were visiting a relative from home. He helps make this campsite such a special place to visit. Michael is warm, welcoming and a fountain of knowledge about the location and where to go/what to do. He was even kind enough to drop us off in Paihia one afternoon and was more than happy to help organise transport for us to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. We highly recommend staying here. It’s one of the best places we’ve stayed in Northland! Thank you to Michael and the team!
