Had another lovely relaxing day. The facilities were lovely and friendly staff. Slightly disappointed the sauna was out of order but plenty other facilities to enjoy. There was limited beds and seats around the pool but after a while we managed to get a bed. The food was delicious and really enjoyed the buffet. I had a pedicure by the amazing Titjana and it was perfect. She was so friendly and just added to my great experience. Will definitely be back!

The location and the area is amazing in nature and the wilderness. Saw some wildlife and enjoyed relaxing with the pool, sauna and a good workout in the gym. This location caters for vegans and the food is very nice with some variety to choose from. The best part are the staff who are friendly to ask any questions. Two staff in particular Tommy, who served us drinks and also greeted us multiple times during dinner which his charisma and charm, as well as his amazing service to his customers. Tommy corrected everything straight away if we were served something wrong and took on feedback to improve the service from others. Without Tommy, this experience wouldn't have been anywhere near as positive. As for the second individual Kiara who greated us for breakfast got to know what we enjoy to eat in only one sitting and knew what to serve for us special as vegans the moment we arrive to her. Kiara is always so positive and welcoming and she, along with Tommy, really made us feel special and happy the limited time we stayed. Thank you so much!

Having visited in March as a day guest, I returned this week as an overnight guest and the experience was completely different and absolutely dire. Check in was rushed and the briefest of tours given. They seemed short staffed. New booking system for treatments mean you have to trek back to main Reception to book, yet they are dealing with check ins!! So a long queue. My massage was rushed and not what I'd expected from a spa! Lunch..........what a shocker. Dead fly on the dessert area! All self service and I didn't see the utensils changed. Dinner....service dire! Firstly perhaps you'd like to clear up the crap and rubbish behind your till which your diners see! Dirty tissues, old glasses, chapstick! Grim. Food, inedible. Bedroom, absolutely appalling. We paid for an upgrade but I'd rather have slept in my car. Dirty bedding, dust everywhere (along with cobwebs and dead moths), tatty furniture. We were given a different room, which to be honest had it's faults too. Tatty decor, tatty bathroom, empty tissue box. This is not what I expected for Champneys. Clearly there are issues and to be quite frank find a hotel with a good spa and spend your money there. I'm afraid Champneys, you have lost your way. We came to spend time with you to relax but instead left stressed and disappointed, oh and without an itemised bill as apparently "we have to check our back account to see the extra transactions"

As always, it was fabulous to return to Champneys Henlow and upon arrival be greeted by Tegan who is always warm, friendly and helpful. During my stay I thoroughly enjoyed a pedicure followed by a relaxing massage - both conducted by Megan who is an exceptional practitioner and a credit to Champneys! Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the new system for booking treatments but apart from that everyone was helpful, friendly and went above and beyond to ensure guests had a memorable and enjoyable visit. It was a wonderful opportunity to escape from reality for a few days and I'm already planning my next visit! Thank you!

My daughter booked the 2 of us for a spa day as a gift to me following a very difficult few months. The day was disappointing in many ways. Warning, if you arrive at 11am there is no where to park. Signage is poor so we wasted time trying to find the changing room. But then none of the lockers worked and we lost at least 30 minutes while this was sorted out. In the spa area the sauna was out of action and so was the hydrotherapy pool outside. We had quite a nice swim which we could have had at the local gym for free. In one toilet the sanitary bin was overflowing with dirty sanitary towels..... Most spas have generous supplies of towels but they were not obviously provided here apart form the flimsy one in the locker. Lunch was okay but uninspiring. We both have allergies and we were handed a scruffy sheet listing allergens and told they couldn't guarantee anything was safe! We both ordered a ginger beer. The waitress brought ginger ale and when I pointed out this was not what had been ordered she claimed the ginger ale was the same as ginger beer even though both are listed on the menu. They cost over £9 which included a service charge????? We had identical massages. My therapist, Claire , was delightful and the treatment was good. But then I was given a discount voucher for the shop but my daughter wasn't. Why was that? All in all not good value and we would not return.

Chose this spa for its reputation and were massively disappointed. Not only the service was poor, unkept and dirty facilities, staff mostly interested in chatting to each other, rather than looking after the clients but when we’ve made a complaint to the management which was in writing and as per the staff’s advice on the day, were fobbed off and told that we have not given them enough opportunity to resolve our complaint on the day. How is that possible if we did speak to staff and were told to email the management? We were offered to come back for free…but why would we if the essence of our complaint was lack of hygiene and customer service? This spa place is a joke, it’s not worth the money they charge, would not recommend! There are plenty of other spas in the locality that offer much better service in cleaner environment!

Visited with friends, there was a long queue at check-in, shown into the light breakfast room. Light breakfast was quite honestly a mess and unappetising. Coffee was lukewarm but we tried to remain positive. Expecting someone to come and greet us and give us a tour but no one came. Decided to try and work out where to go. Signage was poor. At our request and after being lost we sought help and a young lady showed us around. We had a gym workout which was great and then decided to try the spa facilities- which are at the opposite end of the building to the changing rooms! Wanted to take coffee in the garden but this was not permissible. Spa facilities disappointing, sauna not working, hydro pool not working. Steam room was good. Spa was dirty towards end of day, never saw anyone cleaning. Pool was crowded, too many people. Lunch - informed waiter of allergy and was given a dirty screwed up allergy sheet and told of risk of cross contamination due to buffet! Hot food was lukewarm. Cold food was ok. No desserts were labelled. We were not offered drinks until half way through meal. In a nutshell, layout doesn’t work as a spa, too many guests and customer service very poor.

I organised a spa break for a group of 19 of us to celebrate my 40th birthday and we had an amazing time. Having previously visited quite a few years ago it was amazing to see that the hotel has had a wonderful make over with gorgeous decor. I loved the attention to detail on lots of lovely places to relax inside and outside all with tasteful furniture. We also loved the new addition of the outdoor hydro pool complete with plenty of extra comfy loungers outside. However it is the staff that really made this trip for us. They went over and above to make the trip special, accommodate our large group and remain friendly and helpful at all time. We also enjoyed the delicious food, hugely happy that the buffet lunch is back! Huge thanks to Matthew, Andrew, Brendon, Sam and Jackie. You really helped me enjoy every minute of the break and I will be back very soon!
