Jacky's is the place for me as someone who has very limited understanding of Chinese. Moreover, many of the older villagers can't speak Chinese anyway. Jacky is a native of this place. I chose a very basic room which was sufficient for my needs. He was most helpful with information on photography, himself being a photographer and Hani culture. He arranged arrival and departure for me and helped with luggage. Please be aware that you will be in a very rural and once remote part of the country, so don't expect luxurious surroundings. If you are squirmish about mud, dirt and animal droppings, well, get used to it and enjoy one of the wonders of human effort and creation. If you are a photographer, do yourself a favour and also get a drone. Incomparable and endless views of rice terraces. And yes, Duoduo their dog can take you for a walk down to the terraces.

I like this hotel very much. Hilton's service quality is as good as ever. The hotel is located on the bank of Nanhu Lake, next to a large shopping mall, and very close to Southwest Associated University, the old customs site, Pioneer Bookstore, etc. The location is excellent. The room decoration is very warm, and the bed decorations are carefully decorated with flowers and green plants when you check in. The hotel's breakfast is also very rich and the meal service time is relatively long. Special praise should be given to the hotel's caring receptionist Yueyue. The day before check-in, she called to communicate room needs, patiently explained the tour route, upgraded the room type, and presented welcome fruits and yogurt. I am traveling with the elderly in my family. The location of the inn is very good. It is in the center of the ancient city and is not too noisy. You can enter the inn from the parking lot of the ancient town. Parking is also convenient. You don’t have to carry your luggage and walk on the stone roads of the ancient city. The elderly don’t have to be too tired. . The landlord is very enthusiastic. Any questions will be answered😊 The breakfast proprietress is so embarrassed that the grass sprout rice noodles are so fresh👍 Next time you travel to Jianshui, you must choose this inn👏

The hostel is well-located, providing access to many locales, but parts of the building may suffer from noise, including from the street. All areas are mostly clean, though the bathroom has some water pooling issues, and the kitchen has moldy spots - but it remains acceptable. Facilities are decent, and include common rooms, affordable bikes, cute pets, a study room, snacks for guests, and more. Some common areas occasionally get crowded by items or people sleeping, and some people may bellow to each other across the first floor. The public WC are only on the first floor, so night usage may be hard, but the room price is good. The staff includes friendly and helpful people, but some other persons are rude. They may refuse to greet or even look at a guest. They didn't say hi when I came and when I left I said goodbye but was ignored. Surprisingly for a place labeled as an ”international youth hostel”, international guests may feel unwelcome, even if the guests try to make friends with others in common spaces. Some staff gossip about a guest, and along with a few cowardly domestic tourists, make xenophobic remarks, when they think the guest is not listening. This hostel is the first one where I experienced such ****** disrespect. But, I tolerated it. They constantly address the guest as ”foreigner”, as a given name - never wondering how the guest would like to be addressed. Further, valid inquiries from guests are seen as nuisances, rather than as the responsibility of managers or staff to address. They think the guest should keep the manager comfortable, and maybe even address the manager's concerns! LOL. I believe the 5 star reviews by international guests are mostly those who stayed a short time, or who could not understand Chinese. I have 15 years of pretty good references from travelers, guests, and hosts, so my opinion is not uninformed. I would advise international guests to limit their interactions here, as there would not be a just outcome for a ”foreigner”, if an altercation were to occur. Finally, while security cameras are normal in hotels for safety, here they seem to be used to monitor guests in the public, common, areas. This is not done maliciously -- but it is unsettling, and highlights a lack of communicative and organizational skills.

The guest house is just a few minutes walk from Chaoyang Gate, the eastern entrace of the old city. It's in a small alley, so very quiet. The rooms were clean and well-equiped. The owner lady was extremely warm and welcoming, offering all kinds of advice for first-time travellers in the town. There is usually a toufu-grilling and tea session in the evening when you can socialise with the other travellers. Breakfast started a bit late, but had a good variety of food.

The hotel is large, beautiful, and well-equipped. It is especially recommended that you can enjoy the Lake Spring Half Mountain Hot Spring when you stay in the hotel. There are many types of hot springs. The outdoor pool is at the top of the Half Mountain Hot Spring. Although it is a bit cold to swim in this weather, you can see that it is well maintained. The breakfast is rich in variety and tastes good. There is a lake view outside the restaurant, with black swans, and black swans and baby swans foraging leisurely. The front desk and room service staff are friendly, the room is spacious, the facilities and hygiene are perfect, 4 bottles of mineral water are provided every day, and the sound insulation effect is average. Let me talk about the bad things: On October 12, 2024 (Saturday), it was almost 11 o'clock after having a late breakfast, so I went to the hot spring to explore. The waiter at the rental locker in the hot spring center said that even if I only soak my feet, I had to change into a swimsuit before soaking, so I had to abide by the rules. I didn't expect that when I went in, I saw several guests wearing their own clothes and shorts to soak their feet. I came out and reported it to the clerk, and the clerk said it was impossible and our staff would remind the guests inside. I took out a photo taken from a distance (I didn't take other guests' faces) and asked if I could take a photo of you. I reported the problem to the company, and the attitude was also very bad when returning the key. At first, I was not allowed to soak my feet and I was not allowed to return the key and deposit in time. I don't know why the service level of hotel staff is so uneven. The other staff of the hot spring center are very good, including the lifeguards in the swimming pool, the staff in the bathroom, the hot spring pool guides and staff, and even the staff at the massage center.

Canadian traveler stayed 3 nights in late September. Good breakfast. The resort is very nice, restaurant food dishes were tasty, services were excellent. Two rice terraces are within walking distance (Hani and Jiankou). Others are further out, you need to have your own transport. Off season rates are very affordable. A bit off the off the beaten path. Highly recommended.

Facilities: The B&Bs here are all independent two- or three-story buildings. The family room we booked is very large and well-equipped, with a sofa, coffee table, and mahjong machine. Hygiene: As a B&B, it is pretty good, and the bedding and towels are quite new. Service: The service is in place.
