Excellent
GGuest UserThe hidden doorway, interior courtyard, and connection to the other aged buildings on the street all created a perfect scenario for a unique stay. The staff were pleasant, yet absent in terms of service. One night of our stay, it rained torrentially. Earlier in the day, the young woman at the small front desk offered an umbrella for each couple because of the promise of rain. Later in the day though, with rain pooling in the interior courtyard and a power outage, there was no communication from the staff. The room was small. Not quite cramped, but nearly so. The bathroom was not designed for two people to get ready at once; frankly it was a chore for me to maneuver my six-foot frame in and out to shower and shave. It seemed clean, and we didn't stay long enough to really gauge the cleaning or hospitality. The location was convenient for everything we wanted to do, including the fort. Even with substantial traffic passing by each day, the area offered a sense of safety for walking and touring.
I've been @ Santuario much longer than planned due to some health issue. So, I had the time to highly appreciate not only the hostel itself, the great vibe and atmosphere, the fantastic beds setup where you have plenty of space (!) plus an unusual total privacy, like you have a mini room inside a room, but especially the people: staff is great and really cares the guest, while sick I had a family like surveillance, especially Stefy ”la chica del bar”, Kathy (cleaning & kitchen) and Jose (maintenance) never missed supporting me and asking genuinely interested how I was feeling. In a difficult moment, I was in the right place, thanks them! One only thing disturbing me was, the aircon management: ok it was on only evening and night, quite usual, problem was a person feeling cold was enough to shut down the aircon for everyone... and it was hot then... i love freezing, ok, but a correct balance would be the best, suggesting who's cold to wear a t-shirt should work, and others won't sweat ;-)
GGuest UserLocation wise you cannot beat this hostel, so convenient! You have the city wall facing the ocean, Getsémani and all other landmarks well within 10 minutes walking. Also the private room, so nice! Roomy, airconditioned, great bathroom. Also a balcony overlooking the busy streets, all great! And then there is the rooftop. Very nicely done, really cool place to hang out and cool off your hot day. Didn't try the pool but it looked nice too. But then... Casa Movida being a hostel, we were looking for a common area to meet other travelers as well. That is non-existent here. The place doesn't invite you to chill and connect with others. The rooftop gets close to such a place, but was often empty. Maybe more importantly: The staff. Nobody seems to have fun in what they're doing there. Find another job if you don't like working in a hostel. They prefer to text/play games on their phone rather then helping paying guests. Knowing the rooftop bar is cool. Unfortunately you cannot pay for your drink(s) there. Meaning even as a guest sleeping on the top floor, you need to take all the steps down to pay for a beer before going to bed. You can't put a tab on your room. Which is very inconvenient.
GGuest UserNew hotel. Excellent location. The rooms are a bit small and lack adequate ventilation.
The price-quality ratio is good.
They do not offer lockers. The laundry service is cheap and good. The staff is attentive and friendly.
Internet access is very good. The common spaces are not very large but are well organized. You can enjoy your stay even if you have to work at the hostel during it.
