Facilities: Standard warehouse-style youth hostel, the way of sleeping is a bit funny!
Hygiene: The public area is ok, the red brick floor of the shower room is good, and the accumulated water is quickly ****** up.
Environment: Vientiane is just like this, equivalent to the third or fourth tier cities in China, there are no high-rise buildings, this place should belong to the city center, it is wild.
Service: The guy at the front desk is very polite, and the girls and the black employees in Africa are also very polite. The breakfast in the morning is simple, but it is OK.
The only unhappy thing is that at 11 o'clock that night, a woman opened the curtain and talked loudly on the phone in her sleeping cabin for a long time, at least an hour! It was useless to remind her!

I decided to try this new hostel as a budget alternative. It is dormitory style, in a kind of mini-cube design, like Japanese hostels I have read about, but with curtains instead of secure doors.
On the plus side: Everything was very clean. The shower was nice and hot. The plumbing all worked. The reception area is a nice coffee bar with good food, coffee and tea and good WiFi internet and a nice loop of current music by the original artists. There is also a 4th floor balcony to watch the sunrise.
On the minus side:
There were no power outlets in the reception area. (But there are two in each cubiicle.) The shower had no hooks or rack to hang a towel or clothes.
The cubicles have no secure door, just a curtain. (But there is a separate locker for each cubicle to secure luggage and valuables.) There was no hot water for coffee available early before 6:00 am. And the sleeping area was refrigirated to about 20 degrees C (but the comforter was nice and warm all night).
I might try it again, and I will definitely be back to enjoy the coffee.

A very cozy youth hostel, which is much better than domestic youth hostels. I will go there again if I have the opportunity. The boss is very enthusiastic and can speak Chinese. After staying for five days, I met friends from France, the United States, and Ethiopia. We were very happy to chat with each other.

I had mixed reservations about this place due to the reviews but many other hostels in Vientiane had reviews where guests had had things stolen whereas this one did not. However, I had only minor problems with the place and, as I didn’t really leave due to arriving late in the day on a bus from Vang Vieng, it wasn’t too bad. The few problems I had were: - the metal lockers under the beds. Even when padlocking them shut, the doors can be pulled open just enough to slip an arm in. Plus, if someone were to pull the bunk bed away from the wall, they could access the locker through the back as it wasn’t covered. It still gets five stars as even though the lockers were inadequate it didn’t affect me. Had I paid more money, I would have expected better.
The hotel is located by the beautiful Mekong River. From the balcony on the second floor, you can see the winding river and the afterglow of the sunset. The hotel is surrounded by four temples. In the sound of Lang Lang's Buddhist scriptures, you can find the true meaning of life. The distance to famous tourist attractions including the Arc de Triomphe, Prime Minister's Office, That Luang Temple and Vientiane Night Market is less than 3km. There is a bar street nearby. The sound insulation effect of the room is very good, enjoy it

My friend and I are 19 and 20 years old, backpacking. Our first impression was quite good, the beds are fine, everything was clean enough. In the middle of the night, however, my friend was woken up by another backpacker (an adult man) urinating on her bed, including her things and herself. This is of course not the hostel’s fault - but their reaction, or rather lack thereof was appalling. There was no one in the reception (which their website promises!), so I called them on the phone, and was promised that security was on its way. We had to wait almost an hour for the so-called 24-hour reception and security - with the man who pissed on my friend! The man thankfully was not aggressive, but it was a truly uncomfortable experience, that could have ended much worse. Once the security man finally arrived, he was quite unhelpful, and the floor and bed wasn’t even attempted to be cleaned. She was assigned another bed at last - but we had to take all matters into our own hands. The man eventually left, but still had the keycard to come back - it felt very unsafe, and our concern was not taken seriously, we were only told to call if he came back. This morning, we asked to speak to the management, but they never showed up. We eventually got to speak to him on the phone, and after a while got a refund, and for my friend’s clothes to be cleaned. Terrible service and management!

The reception answered all my questions in a good manner. It was nice to take a nap in the lobby while waiting for the check in time. Yes it was loud by some other guest outside the door but that's not managements problem. For some reason many complained about loud guests at night and I had the similar problem. Shower and toilet area is good. The reception answered all my questions in a good manner. It was nice to take a nap in the lobby while waiting for the check in time. My bike broke down. I was downtown Vientiane near the night market. It was already late at night. To stay the night I decided on the Ocean Blue Hostel. A friend of mine had been staying there before. She liked it. So ... why not? It was a bit of a mixed experience. Nothing wrong with the hostel though. Staff members are friendly. Breakfast is okay and quickly served. Mattresses and bedding are clean. The hostel is well designed and everything is kept in good order. There are separate dormitory rooms for men and women. They are on separate floors as well. That's probably a good idea. I guess it was just bad luck. One of the young men staying at my dormitory room was smoking during the night. That's strictly forbidden and incurs a high fine. He apparently couldn't care less. I guess inexpensive hostels sometimes attract guests who do not want to behave. Otherwise it was very okay.

Extremely disappointed with the apartment. Tired after 2 years of being closed. Bathroom was awful - no water pressure, no bathmat, one old towel, 1 tiny cake of soap for the 5 nights and the smell was horrendous. I had to ask for toilet paper as only half a small roll was provided. The WIFI didn't work 99% of the time. The TV didn't work at all. The aircon - constantly dripped so much so that the entire floor and bottom of the bed were soaked most mornings - it didn't cool very well so luckily an old pedestal fan was there as a back up. The kitchen had a microwave and fridge and a few plates but that's about it - nothing to wash the dishes with, cutlery and plates dirty - as obviously been left unwashed for quiet some time. Bed linen was stained and old and only changed on Day 5 of my stay It took me telling them I was leaving to get someone to clean my room - that was on Day 5! On check-in was not offered any help with luggage - and I was on the 4th floor - so struggled up 4 flights of steep stairs at night in an extremely badly lit stairwell. Most mornings and nights the reception appeared to be abandoned - the front gate was shut at around 6pm and the main front door locked - luckily I saw another guest coming out the side door - or Would have been locked out. Occasionally a boy - always appeared to be dressed only in his boxer shorts would appear and say hello.

Outstanding
MMukekevery nice. Bedding is 100% cotton. Hygiene is excellent. Every time I meet him, I find him mopping the floor and making it shiny. He is really a hard-working little bee. There was a cat that I petted on the first day but was never seen again and missed very much. The boss and the front desk guy have great attitudes. The Laotian guy who made breakfast was very gentle and had a good attitude. It’s also delicious. The general impression is that Laotians are relatively lazy and relaxed, but they work rigorously and are very meticulous and responsible. Because I twisted my waist, I had to change from the upper bunk to the lower bunk, which caused him trouble. I was really embarrassed, but he took the trouble. Thank you very much! It is quite close to the Mekong River. There is a bar next to it. It is the first bar in Laos. It is about a hundred meters away. Because of the proximity, I, a woman, dared to sit in the bar until after ten o'clock and drank a bottle of Laos beer. I met a British aunt who brought a cute doll with her on the trip. I had a chat with her and was very happy. The people who live here are of high quality. The public area on the second floor is very comfortable and has a banyan tree. People who don't speak English or Lao can easily check in because they can all speak Chinese. I was too lazy to write a review before, but this is my first time writing a review because I thought it was good. I came here alone and got a lot of help.
GGuest UserI arrived Vientiane by train. There were two buses picking up passengers opposite the front of the station. One was a minibus going to the night market (30k kips) and the other was a public bus going to Vientiane Central Bus Station (25k kips). The minbus going to the night market was full so I took the one going to the Central Bus Station. On checking Google maps, the one going to the night market is the correct transportation to take.
It was close to 9pm when I arrived at the bus station. Note that the reception closes at 10pm. I took a tuk tuk at 50k kips (bargained from 100 kips). The fare was 30k kips when I took a car from the hostel back to the Bus Station to catch Bus 12 to Vientiane (Khamsavath) train station. Do note that this is a different train station from the station I'd arrived from. That station is used by the Laos-China train, while Khamsavath station is used by the Laos-Thai train.
The above described the location of the hostel in relation to the train stations and Central Bus Station.
As for the 3rd floor room (was it 2nd?? well, it was at the highest floor) that I was assigned, there is space enough for 6 beds (3 double deckers). My beddings were spotlessly clean. The aircon worked perfectly. The staff who had checked me in helped with my luggage, which was much appreciated. He pointed out to me the facilities too.
The bathroom cubicles and toilets are on the ground floor. They are clean. The bathroom cubicle i had used were without showergel/soap or shampoo. I did not check the other cubicles.
The common area is behind the reception on the groundfloor. It is air-conditioned and has comfortable seats. There is a water dispenser which dispenses cold water. Again, much appreciated.
In a folder on a desk opposite the reception desk contains information on transportation, fares and public bus schedules. Most useful!
The owner (i assumed he is) had kindly helped me call a car to the central station. He went out in the heat to look out for the car and bode me farewell. It is personal touches like this that warms the heart.
Yes, it is a hostel I would recommend. The 2 attached pictures were information displayed on the walls of the common area which i found useful.
GGuest UserOverall a really good hostel to stay in Vientiane. We couldn't find any available rooms online anymore so we direct messaged them on Facebook and it turned out they still had a twin room free for our dates. The room was not very large but big enough to be comfortable in. Bathroom was clean but the toilet seat was loose so had to be careful using this. All in all the room was good enough for us. The café downstairs is really nice, breakfast that was included was lovely and large portions (especially the rice soup) and the food we had for lunch there was amazing. Really nice vibes as well so you could even come here just for the food if you're staying elsewhere. The only minus for this place is the location. It's a bit on the edge of the city centre and quite a walk away from the hustle and bustle. There's some things to do close by, like the famous arch, but most good restaurants and bars are on the other end of the centre 15-20 minutes walk away. We don't mind walking a bit so not a huge problem for us but just something to keep in mind. We also organised our transport, the sleeper bus service to Pakse, which all went really well. They picked us up in a minivan at the agreed time and brought us to the bus station. There the driver paid for our tickets and showed us to our sleeper bus. We were surprised by the bus in a positive way, which was much better and nicer than we expected from all the stories we'd heard. It looked like the driver bought the tickets from a company called Chitprasong and they used King of Bus buses which were pretty comfortable. Just be aware the beds are for 2 people so if you're alone you'll have to share with a stranger. All in all highly recommend though

GGuest UserA small, cozy hotel located within walking distance to the arch. An iron and hair dryer were available. There were soap supplies. The bed and towels were clean, but there was still dust on the furniture. Friendly staff who speak English. Breakfast in a nearby cafe, not available in the hotel itself

FFreddy JLocated at ”busy alley ” ( which i mean nearby to night market and massage center ) The hotel
provide decent alacart breakfast, the bed is quite wide and i had a good sleep. ☺️Just incase you bring heavy / Huge luggage, this might be challenging for you as there is no lift to go up to 3rd floor.
BBART FLORENT Hlocation is good , i slept in deluxe double room on th third floore, bed is good , no street noise during night, however noise from the waterpipe and people coming down from the stairs, Check in is slow.as many geusts also change their money, so the man is very busy. The breakfast is egg with toast, that was ok.
The swimming pool water looks not so cleam. They have taxi service to airport. Regarding price it is very cheap to stay here, I would recomment it if can stay on the fourth floor.

GGsoriosI was here for only one night as I had to do a visa run. The date was 9/1/2019. First when I arrived at the hotel the power was out. The hotel did not have a back up generator. Once the power was back on. I was allowed to Check in. That was about 3 pm. Upon checking in I was informed that the credit card machine was not working and that I had to pay cash. I informed the front desk clerk that I only had Thai Baht . I was informed that he did not know the exchange rate so he might not be able to exchange for me. I went online and was able to share the rate with him, which allowed him to make the conversion and give me change in KIP. I checked the room and was unpleasantly surprised. There was a hole in the left hand corner of the bedroom that looked like a mouse hole. I wondered all thur the night if a mouse would drop down that hole. The furniture was old and had puncture hole in them. The bathroom which had a tub, however no stopper. There was black Mold in the ceiling and no toilet paper holder. The next morning I went proceeded to go to breakfast and was informed that the free breakfast was on the 5th floor. I checked the elevator there is no 5th floor. Oh! I had to take the elevator to the 4th floor and walk up to the fifth floor. I am wondering how do they accommodate the handicapped. The buffet breakfast was cold. The fruit dishes on the buffet included ants on the plates. This is a step too far. This accommodation was not worth the $48.00 US. Please stay away from this dated facility.
