The Collingdale Guest House

After a tough couple of years, we finally got the chance for a week away. We couldn't have picked a better place to go. It was a real home from home experience. Very comfortable and very welcoming. The breakfast was amazing, so much choice and such fresh quality ingredients. Ilfracombe was wonderful, lots to do. We also drove out and explored a few of the quaint villages which are lovely and definitelyworth making the effort. Overall the kindness from Sharon and Sue (we didn't see Daryl but his breakfasts are yummy) and the comfort of the Collingdale makes it a top choice and we highly recommend to any future visitors staying in Ilfracombe. We had a very pleasant short stay in the Colingdale and couldn't fault anything about the stay. The house is a very tastefully furnished and upholstered Georgian house inn a terrace. Some of the others look faded and shabby but don't let that bother you. The Colingdale is tip top. Upon arrival, Sharon greeted us and showed us around and to our room which was spacious with a small balcony with two chairs and with a nice view over the Bristol Channel to South Wales. Some novelties were the possibility to pre order smoked haddock or kippers for breakfast (the breakfast itself was excellent and catered for all standard tastes) and a bar in the downstairs lounge area with an honesty box. Private parking is available at £5 per day. Sharon and Daryl were very friendly and helpful and we will definitely return.

Had a fantastic experience with a view that was amazing. The room was very clean, bed very comfy, had all amenities you needed. The hosts Sharon and Daryl were the best, so friendly and knowledgeable about Ilfracombe. The breakfast was next to none, a wide but varied selection and a fantastic cooked breakfast. The harbour was only a short walk away and some lovely restaurants and pubs. We shall definitely return at some point.

We've recently returned from Ilfracombe (we're a couple in our mid-40s) having spent 10-days at the Collingdale and it was simply first class, truly excellent from the minute we arrived. Ilfracombe is beautiful, undoubtedly one of the most relaxed and picturesque destinations we've visited - and we're well travelled! A real 'must do' destination. The Collingdale added several layers of exceptional quality; a superb breakfast every day (a wide-range of high quality foods for selection, cooked to perfection, to suit all tastes. Fish for breakfast, also a 'must do!') Very clean/ comfortable from top to bottom, excellent room service/ upkeep, comfy beds/ pillows, exceptional views, fantastic! Undoubtedly the knowledge and kindness of our hosts and the staff made our stay even better. They never failed to make sure we had everything we needed, from advice on things to do, places to visit, local bus times and routes, we made sure each day exceeded our expectations - a truly memorable break. We had a lovely 2 night stay in the Collingdale. The bed and pillows were really comfy and the bedlinen and towels were pristine. When we arrived Sharon showed us to our room that we’d booked and gave us the option to change it for another room which suited us better so we were really pleased with this option. Fabulous view of the sea from the room. Location was perfect with a nice 10 minute stroll to the harbour. Lots of choice for breakfast but highly recommend the full Devon English breakfast 10/10 superb will set you up for the day ! Would recommend the Collingdale to family and friends for a perfect place to stay in Ilfracombe.

Lovely guest house overlooking the harbour. The bedroom was comfortable and spotlessly clean and there is a lovely lounge. The breakfasts were excellent and the hosts could not have been friendlier or more attentive. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at the Colllingdale. The welcome was warm and friendly. There is a lovely lounge area for guests with comfortable sofas and chairs with views over the sea. We had a double en suite which was on the road side. There was no problem sleeping as the traffic died down and it was quite during the night. The breakfast was just perfect. Probably the best breakfast we have had in a very long time. (sorry husband!) my teenage son wasn’t keen to get up and Sharon kindly gave me his croissants to go which were very my appreciated. I would advise booking parking as although there is free parking on the roadside it was always full. The location worked really well as it was walking distance to the harbour or a short drive into town. I have an electric car and found a charging point in the Ropery car park by the harbour, so no problem there. All round an excellent stay and would highly recommend it. Thank you.

We stayed 1 night at the collingdale. We were very impressed with the booking, information and opportunity for early lunchtime arrival. Guest house is in a super location over looking the harbour, and gentle 10 minute down hill walk. The facilities at the guest house were super, lovely lounge with great views, second lounge with honesty bar. Room very clean and had all requirements. Great choice of breakfast and cooked and presented really well. couldn’t fault it all, would definitely recommend and stay again if in the area

This is a perfect B&B. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with a small balcony overlooking the sea and a very good demand shower. Nothing was too much trouble for Sharon, who helped secure our bikes, gave great recommendations for dinner and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast is indeed sensational-simply the best cooked breakfast we have ever had and a perfect start to a long days biking. Slightly tricky to find. Follow Hillsborough Road( A 399) out of town and you'll find the B&B a little way downhill on your left.
