Sightsee BugWhen we were looking for accommodation in Kinmen, I wasn't sure I wanted to book a B&B. Looking at the accommodation available in Kinmen, it seems the majority are B&B and homestays. After having stayed at Zhu Shan Gandee, we finally realised that a good number of the traditional buildings in many of the ”villages” have been converted into accommodation. This one was in the Zhu Shan village where there are other B&Bs. There are no shops or restaurants in this village but downtown Jincheng is only a short drive away. This village is really nice and quiet (as would others I am guessing) and Zhu Shan Park is just a short stroll behind the house from which a top view of the village can be seen. Strolling around the village, this house stands out as more modern and attractive and the nicest in presentation (in my humble opinion). Inside, the common areas are excellent, well presented and homely. There are 2 courtyards to relax in and their atmospheres are so welcoming. We were out most of the time so didn't really spend too much time indoors enjoying what was on offer. Our room was a tad small but we love having a bidet to use. The bed was comfortable. A simple bread and jam breakfast is available if you choose to have it. There is plenty of ”help yourself” bottled and packet drinks in the fridge and in boxes on the floor if you don't want to drink them cold along with make yourself tea and coffee. There are no cooking facilities but there is a microwave. Finally, the lady host is really helpful and awesome. We rented a car so didn't need to be picked up. But she would go out of her way to ensure your stay is most comfortable and enjoyable. That hospitality personified.

The guesthouse room was fantastic—clean, tidy, and beautiful. The owner was also incredibly kind; I felt a genuine warmth emanating from him. It was my first time traveling alone, and I was a little worried about feeling lonely. But the owner was like an older brother, offering me all sorts of help; I felt a familial bond with him. If any friends ever visit Kinmen, I will definitely recommend this guesthouse!

SallycwyThe facilities are new and very clean. But the location is a bit out of the way, and it took me a long time to find it after getting off the taxi. It took several people to give directions before I found it. But we were given early check-in if we arrived early, and the breakfast was delicious.

He Ming-yiWhat I liked: the location is very convenient if you’re coming to Kinmen from Xiamen. The homestay is walking distance from Shuitou Port (about 15 minutes).
The owner is a very friendly and helpful person. He helped me rent an electric motorcycle and responded very fast to all of my text messages.
The homestay is clean (the cleaning lady is very kind, too! ^^). There’s a lot of storage space as well as lockers. The shampoo and body wash in the bathroom were also really nice.
What could be improved: the bunk beds consists of a wooden plank and bedding, so it was quite hard and a bit uncomfortable. However, I still managed to sleep well and there’s enough privacy.
There are no locks in the homestay. Basically anyone from outside can access the public areas and the room with the bunk beds, which can be scary for some solo travelers. However, the homestay has security cameras and Kinmen is very safe in general, so I was never really worried. The door of the room is quite heavy and makes a lot of noise, so this is something to be mindful of when it’s late and you’re sharing the room with other guests.
All in all, I had a great experience and would stay here again. I’m really happy to have had the opportunity to stay at a traditional house for such an affordable price.

Such a clean B&B! The owners are incredibly nice, and they offer breakfast with a choice of congee, sandwiches, and soy milk. The fried dough sticks are super crispy and delicious – worth waking up early for! The room has a fridge, which is great for keeping drinks. The only downside is that the fridge compressor sometimes makes a noise, but I'm a heavy sleeper, so I didn't hear it at all while sleeping. All the facilities are perfect. I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit!

Anonymous UserA beautiful, historic homestay near the port with excellent service. High-quality bedding and comfortable beds. Walking in and hearing Celine Dion made it even more quaint 😂
Jack was super helpful with information about the ferry tickets, and even made an extra trip back to the port because I Ieft my umbrella behind. And his mom was very kind and welcoming too.
A note to those who may be sensitive: there was a faint musty smell, which I’ve found common to many hotels and guest houses in humid climates like Taiwan. Earplugs are recommended for light sleepers, since you can hear courtyard and street noise in the room. Plan ahead for cash: nearby restaurants are cash-only, and the nearest atm is at 7-11, about a 20 minute walk away.

I had a really pleasant stay at Kivala Hostel. The place was very clean and well looked after, especially the bathrooms and sleeping areas, which made a big difference for a hostel. The hosts were friendly and easy to communicate with, and the check-in process was smooth.
The location is quiet and peaceful, which I personally liked, though it’s a little away from the main busy areas — something to keep in mind if you want everything right outside your door. The common areas were comfortable and practical, and the overall atmosphere felt calm and respectful rather than noisy or chaotic.
Overall, it’s great value for money and a solid choice if you want a clean, comfortable, and relaxed place to stay in Kinmen. I’d happily stay here again.

Guest UserA hidden gem of a guesthouse in Kinmen! The owner is incredibly welcoming and offers pier pick-up and drop-off service 👍 The rooms are clean and well-equipped, with a refrigerator, water dispenser, and kitchen available for your use on the first floor. The location is superb, with a 7-Eleven, drugstore, and pharmacy right outside the door. It's also just 3 bus stops to the left for Jincheng Bus Station and 3 stops to the right for Carrefour. Perfect for those who can't ride an electric scooter – hassle-free shopping and getting around!

Because they are not in the city, they originally wanted to rent a locomotive, but because it rained, and I was too late to say that the car rental place has been closed (18:00), so I had to stop, but fortunately there is a bus stop near the hotel. The traffic to the airport and the city center is quite convenient. It is not necessary to rent a locomotive or take a taxi, but the bus runs every hour. You have to pay attention to the station time. Jincheng drives on time. But it takes 10 minutes to get to the hotel. If it is slow, it will be about 20 minutes.

Environment: Quiet but relatively remote
Service: Relatively satisfactory
Different from hotels in China, maybe they advocate simplicity and environmental protection, so the cups for brushing teeth and the cups in the breakfast room are disposable cups. At present, there are no hotels in China that use keys to open the door, but they still use keys to open the door, which is a bit uncomfortable. I forgot to lock the door before going out several times, and ran back to lock the door. The sound insulation is not good, and the guests outside can hear the conversation clearly. The washbasin only has a basin, no table. The dry and wet separation of the bathroom is only a curtain, not separated by glass. The view outside the window is good and feels great.
