Review of Onna Resort, Okinawa About me: I’m a frequent flyer to Japan and a long-time fan of staying at villas and resorts across the country. I enjoy discovering different accommodations across Japan. This time, I chose Onna Resort for a relaxing group trip. ⸻ 👍 What I liked: • Spacious resort– Very roomy and comfortable, easily fits 7–8 people. Perfect for families or groups of friends. • Clean and well-maintained – The entire resort was spotless and felt well cared for. • View exactly as shown in photos – Stunning ocean view that matches the listing. Great for enjoying sunrise and sunset. • Beach nearby – A beach is within walking distance. While it may not be the best in Okinawa, it’s still nice for a stroll or quick swim. • Washer and dryer setup – Includes both a washer-dryer combo and a separate dryer, which is especially handy for drying towels and clothes after swimming. • Well-equipped kitchen – Good selection of cookware and appliances for preparing meals. • Private and quiet surroundings – Peaceful setting with no disturbance from other guests. ⸻ 👎 What could be improved: • Inconsistent check-in information – The email offered early check-in, and a staff member via video call said I could check in at 2pm. But when I arrived, another staff said it was 3pm. This communication gap should be addressed. • Missing basic items – No cups or glasses were provided, obviously an oversight by the cleaning staff. • Limited towel supply – Towels are provided strictly based on headcount. Given the proximity to the beach, it would be more convenient to offer a few extra towels without needing to ask. • Limited Coffee Supply - The resort provides coffee bags based on headcount as well, which was insufficient for guests who consume two or three cups daily. A more generous and considerate coffee supply would enhance the experience. • Insufficient tableware – Only two large plates were provided. It would be more practical to include additional small dishes, rice bowls, and condiment plates (e.g. for soy sauce or wasabi), especially for guests who plan to cook. • Lack of basic cooking ingredients – It would be helpful if staple items like cooking oil, salt, and pepper were provided to make meal preparation more convenient. • No power outlets near beds – Most sockets were located low on the wall and away from sleeping areas, making it inconvenient to charge phones or devices overnight. • Weak Wi-Fi signal in places – Internet connection was spotty in some areas of the villa, although it offers several wifi spots within the resort, but still weak

The overall environment is decent; it's a quiet resort hotel. The hotel is a bit old, but well-maintained. The condition of the public areas and rooms is acceptable. Essentially a golf resort hotel, the overall atmosphere and guest demographics revolve around golf. If you're interested in golf, you can come and play a round. Most meals are served within the hotel. There are almost no shops nearby, so it's not suitable for itineraries involving frequent outings or shopping. The overall pace is slow and somewhat secluded, making it more suitable for a quiet vacation or playing golf.

Was impressed by the excellent service provided by Kim at the front desk, she handled our check-in efficiently. The rest of the team were also warm and friendly, and spoke fluent English. Something interesting was a self-serve room where you can get extra amenities like face wash and bar soaps, and also try different types of Okinawan brown sugar. There were lots of board games available so families would probably appreciate that. We truly enjoyed the view from our room as it had a good angle of the sea even though the hotel isn’t located at the beach. The room was huge and even had a freezer and an oven. For longer stays or if you’re visiting the beach often, the washer dryer would come in handy as well. The hotel had two restaurants for breakfast and although the variety was great, with a good mix of local and international cuisine, the quality could be improved. We had lunch on our first day and regretted our decision. Location-wise, the hotel would be better for those who intend to drive as it was quite a walk to the nearest bus stop, and the shuttle bus service was infrequent so we ended up not using it at all. I

The location of our guesthouse was incredibly convenient, situated on a side street of Nago's main street. It offered excellent amenities, with supermarkets nearby for daily necessities and the popular Donmu Ramen – a must-try! Furthermore, the guesthouse was close to nearby attractions, such as the Churaumi Aquarium and Kouri Island, all within a 30-minute drive, a huge plus for planning our itinerary. Our room type was very comfortable. The first floor had three bedrooms and a separate bathroom/toilet; the second floor featured a living room, an open kitchen, and a family room, also with a separate bathroom/toilet. The guesthouse provided a washing machine and dryer, which was incredibly convenient for us as we needed to do laundry during our trip. We cooked our own breakfast and dinner in the kitchen, using groceries to prepare simple late-night snacks and breakfasts. We chatted and laughed together, creating a very warm and cozy atmosphere. In the mornings, we could also go for a run along the nearby coastline, breathing in the fresh air and relaxing both body and mind. We stayed for two nights, and this guesthouse made our entire trip even more enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

Convenient self-service facilities: · Transportation and Life: Plenty of parking locations are extremely friendly to self-driving tourists. · Cooking freedom: Equipped with an induction cooker for easy home cooking, suitable for families or long stays. · Convenient washing: Washing machine, dryer and ample drying space are all available, solving the laundry needs of long trips. 2. Private and autonomous check-in mode: · Self-service check-in throughout the process, without frequent contact with the front desk, provides an undisturbed environment. · Continuous stay without cleaning ensures privacy and is suitable for travelers who do not like outsiders entering and exiting the room. Disadvantages 1. Insufficient spare parts: Not having enough shower gel during your stay and needing to handle it yourself is the main service shortcoming that affects your stay experience. 2. Strict check-out rules: · Check-out has to be completed earlier than 10pm and “late check-out costs extra”, lack of flexibility. 3. The check-in procedure is slightly cumbersome: · Video staff is required to confirm that although the occupants mosquitoes are a management need, the family does not feel convenient enough. Integrated Evaluation and Recommendations This accommodation is more suitable for budget travelers, long-term stayers, self-drive families or a group of friends who can make the most of the kitchen and bathroom facilities and don’t mind self-service. Not recommended for: Traditional vacationers looking for comfortable service, daily cleaning, and leisure facilities such as a hot spring.

One of the best hotel I ever stayed so far. The staff was very patience and helpful! I love how the staff there attend to their guests. I feels welcome and I really love how the resorts are designed. By the way, their chinese food “Dragon Palace” was super delicious and price are reasonable. Will definitely recommend to my friends/ family who are travelling to Okinawa.

It’s an uncomfortable stay. First thing first, the room stink and smells moldy. The toilet fills with the scent from the drain. Most of all, the safety lock of the entrance is broken and no one can fix it. Left me feeling unsafe during bedtime. Asked for a change of room but got rejected. The only good thing is that the receptionist came up to offer help to catch a huge moth in the room. Will not consider to stay over anymore.

At night, I drove to the headquarters for one night. I chose it because I could check in before 12 o'clock. There is a parking lot for 700yen one night next to it. Hotel facilities are not new, the floor aisle has a smell, but the room and toilet are not. The room type is large, the water is hot enough, the air-conditioning is strong, the bed is big but soft.

Almost self-catering accommodation. There's a large cemetery next door; I didn't pay attention to the comments when booking. The room was fully equipped, including a gas stove and frying pan. There was a washing machine in the room; closing the partition door reduced the noise considerably. There was a coin-operated 100 yen dryer downstairs. There was also a clothesline on the balcony. I was satisfied with the facilities, but dissatisfied because: 1. The air conditioning automatically turned off between 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM for two consecutive nights. Even when it turned on, it would only run briefly before stopping. 😠 2. The TV automatically turned on at 6:30 AM for two consecutive nights. I don't speak Japanese; could you please check if the previous guest set the automatic on/off function with the remote?

I would say it's quite an old hotel but rooms were big. We had a corner room with it's own kitchenette, a sofa area with tv and 2 single beds. We initially wanted to combine the bed as we have a toddler with us but it wasn't a viable option as the bed frames were built attached to the wall. Room is rather dirty even though we requested for room cleaning, I could feel the floor abit dusty and sticky. The bathroom curtains were also cold and had mould at the bottom (the part that's most often in touch with water).
